stuff :P .

My joysticks - sidewinder precision 2, cyborg, saitek - all have rotation available - I have never had any problems with torso twisting, jumpjetting, targeting & shooting without taking my hand off the joystick - the mouse or keyboard just gave me extra functions.

For immersion a gamepad will never get me there - just is wrong IMHO ie when do fighter jets or tanks use a gamepad design for controlling the vehicle?? but fighters do use joystick & throttle design - this is how I play & plan to play MWO especially for the immersion & better control

At first, w/ MW2 I started out with joystick and keyboard. Then I moved on to keyboard and mouse for faster snap shots and jump sniping. This time around, I'm gonna stick with keyboard and mouse, but I may also add the Razer Nostromo, for faster target switching, overrides, and weapon configs. I anticipate that the Nostromo will also give me better control over my jumps and strafing, as I've become accustomed to a thumb-stick on a gamepad (but refuse to use a gamepad for ANY MW game, period).

If I ever get the scratch to build a dedicated cockpit, I'll probably go with a Saitek flight control setup, complete with pedals and a small, wireless keyboard/mouse rig for setup/menu interactions and other odds-n-ends. Just sayin'!

I plan on using the hell out of my Saitek X52 HOTAS setup, possibly supplemented by the keyboard for whatever key commands I can't fit onto my stick or throttle. I'm not too concerned about running out of options, though; I can run MW4 Mercs without taking my hands of the throttle or stick at all, save between missions. My biggest concern, honestly, is if TeamSpeak will recognize a control on my stick or throttle as the PTT button - I despise VOX for VOIP purposes. Too much noise in my house for it.

As a general question to anyone who will answer: What do you think of the Saitek x52 pro? Since the Thrustmaster Warthog is pretty much out of the question, I was aiming for the much cheapter X52 pro and wanted to know how it felt and performed.

I've been very happy with my original X52 for about seven years now, and from what I understand the X52 Pro is basically the same thing with a slightly different and easier-to-read LCD on the throttle assembly. I would highly recommend it.

I tried using joystick for the longest time, not just Mechwarrior, and was generally terrible at playing games with it. Then I just moved to keyboard and mouse. I was pretty much killing everything left and right in no time by doing so.

The best joystick between the mice, the best mouse between the joysticks - my lovely Razer Hydra.
