Petition To Get Rid Of Assault

Skirmish, Domination, and Conquest. Just leave it at that and have all three as options for each match.

When people decide to sit in middle of map doing nothing and let 1 mech win whole game, it is only their fault.
I think we should get rid of skirmish instead, people play everything like skirmish anyway and at least in other game modes you do not waste time chasing 1 last person who is turn off in some corner.

And cap the enemy base.
A: Is it the map?
B: Is it the mode?
C: Is it the players?

This could be fixed mostly if cap time is increased and not reduced bye multiple mechs capping.
Assault cap time is insanely short if compared to conquest.

I second this.
Skirmish is simply VILE. team death match where fighting is the main goal. Yet 99% of players hide and cower and won't fight.
I've been FORCED to play this mode more than any other-I've never votedd for it.
I'd rather them game pick map and mode at random.

And don't tell me about "no resources", it's not that hard to program way points, and failing that the old program code could be used.
Also- bring back some of the discontinued maps, such as old Lurmagedon Polar Highlands, etc.

you should have seen Assault back in the day
they had turrets (I am thinking to cut down on the lights capping but not sure)
the turrets where so bad that people started to complain
so Russ removed the turrets and promised another game mode to replace the original assault

Turrets that had direct fire Lasers and LRMs

I agree with this, all the current game modes are pretty much skirmish in the end. At least assault and domination and conquest have an alternative way of ending the match when you run into the last stealth light that refuses to be seen.
the actual skirmish mode has no way to deal with this and that stealth light will wast time and keep your mech locked to the match longer.

Skirmish often, depending on the map, turns into a game of who is the best sniper on the high ground. At least Domination and Assault requires them to actually engage with other mechs.
If you want to change Assault then make the capture times longer but also increase the speed of the capture quirks, so it's worthwhile deciding if you want to make an investment in that particular play style.

The worst mode is Skirmish. One sniper in a high spot immune from return fire or a stealth mech dragging this out to 15 min is nonsense.
Assault is fine so long as something causes mechs to have to move out. This is where ROLES come into play. If people communicate and coordinate you can have lights go poke at the base while the rest of the force looks to identify the enemy, hold, or assault as the situation dictates. The only thing I would do is return the turrets to the base, even just one like in the old days. The ability to sit a light on the base with nothing there at all is ridiculous. Even one turret will at a minimum slow down a lone capping light long enough to respond.

What would have made escort interesting is if one player of the 12 takes command and uses the console to have everyone "Move Here" which the escortee follows until given a new destination. So someone will have to keep up dating the destination point as the game progresses and some one will have to take command if the leader dies. Sure would be better than a mindless Atlas wandering directly into the enemy firing line.
