They should fly or track in the general direction of a target similar to how LRMs go (not ATM for they go for the center of the mech), yes it means some of the missiles would miss their mark, specially if the target is moving and caught at an awkward position at the moment of firing (wich suggest one would have to exercise a measure judgement and skill when firing), but it is better than what we have now.
With SSRMs' each missile track any random part individually (don't think I ever seen the hit the cockpit), I you guys will excuse me but that's terrible, it isn't just my subjective opinion, they are terrible. They do work better when flanking, they have few options so they would end up hitting an arm or a leg.

I've resigned myself to the fact that STREAKs will never be good in this game. Here's why:
1. There is too much hate among high ranked players towards lock-on weapons so there's no will to fix them.
2. Of all weapon systems, STREAKs are the most complex to fix. The Cauldron isn't capable of fixing them.

...those are not reasons not to do it, one could count those as reasons to actually fix or change the SSRMs if anything else.
