I had a game where I solo killed 2 enterily fresh Assualt mechs, and capped 2 point, and my team won the match. But my skill goes down because I only had 180 damage, as both kills were into the rear armor of the Assualt mechs.

What would help your team win more:
A.) Splashing 1000 damage randomly.
B.) Killing 2 mechs fresh mechs with head shots and rear torsos, for 200 damage.

Why is A rewarded more than B?

Im not suggesting to remove damage from the rewards calculations, But farmimg damage should never give more rewards than efficiency killing a target.

Yeah i never understood this either everybody is all over OOOH I GOT 1000 damage but nobody is ever excited about OOH I GOT 6 kills or OOH i got 3+ KMDDS. it even seems like you get more points for 12 assist then you do for 3+ kills.

I'm agreeing with you here but just think what insanity would happen if that 1000 damage were focused on CT or head components instead of farming damage all over.

Also i rarely see events where the objective is to get a certain amount of kills it's always either Damage or match score further pushing the point that damage>kills.

I've long said that killing or destroying a mech takes a mech and it's guns off the field depriving the enemy of potential damage and kills on your side, but for some reason, that doesn't seem to matter.

Some of this is that a simple scoring program can't calculate the value of some actions, where as damage is an attribute that can be calculated.

I do agree that what you damage should vary your score. An example would be damage to the front CT is worth more than damage to an arm. Damage to the back CT is worth more than to a rear side torso. Etc. However, this complicates a match scoring system by a reasonable amount, and then it starts to favor other forms of game play.

The scoring formula is one that should be seeing altercations and refinement as time progresses. I am going to give credit where it is due here and mention that the scoring formula for MW:O has changed several times. It's been some time so it likely could use an update again.

We should start mentioning suggestions on changes we think could be good for a match score system, with reasons behind it and how it could be implemented.

In this case I think that some damage should see higher rewards over other damage. Like, Arm Damage is worth 0.8, side torso and legs are worth 1 and CT damage is worth 1.2. Rear damage adds 0.2 to the scaling (so rear CT damage would be worth 1.4 scaling).
