Why on earth would running at 4k high details give me a disadvantage?

There were multiple locations to emerge from, it was instant every time. You can't guess that.

Since higher details are rly distracting visio in this game (thats why most fps are played in potato visuals) especilly particles, buit also some obstacels turn invisible depending of your settings and the situation. Its not uncommon, that u can see the feet of a mech, but still cant shoot its torso.

There are always only that many point where u will be able to poke and good pilots now all these. So lets say there are 3 spots where u might be able to poke from this side. If someone is covering this are with an erll mech there is a 33% chance, that his crosshair is already over your position. And even if not, depending on the cover and your mech layout u normally give away your position prior to shooting, since your arm, shoulder etc. expose before u can shoot. And thats not even counting in smoke etc.

And stuff likes target spotted makes it even easier (dont even need sensor lock, just cursor over the target)

yeah but nothing that would block static spotting.
No obstacles involved, he was in front of the hill, I could hit him fine.

Literally ran 20-30 seconds away and poked again and still found me instantly every time. If it has been some
of the time I wouldn't of mentioned it. Also I had still active ECM and no-one was close enough to counter it
so shouldn't of ever been targetable + no tag/PPC hits etc.

Ecm does nothing on this range (since u are already out of sensor range). But you are still spotable via "target spotted", since u need no sensor lock for this. But if something feels fishy just report and move on.

The cover you were using might "disappear" or deform enough at farther distances to be visible thanks to lower graphic settings. Though that's usually a double-edged sword because they can fire and hit an invisible wall instead.

Had another really sus one just now.

A guy in a sniper mech constantly hitting me, despite no way he could see me.
There was a pillar of hot smoke between us, completely blocking all vision in
all view modes.

He was over 1km away and I could see him clearly till the smoke went up, but
afterwards it was completely blocking all LoS, but moment I stepped round the
rock, instant LL + AC hits, straight through the smoke.

You still have not told us which mech you were in, there are only a handful of mechs were the cockpit is at the very top and so are the weapons, allowing you to see over a hill at the same time your mech becomes visible, all other mechs have geometry that forces you to expose your mech long before you can actually see over the hill.

Think of the Archer or King Crab, cockpit right in the middle, you have to expose half your mech before you can see over a hill.

VS the clan hunchback, especially the one with 4 large lasers in the top shoulder slots, You only have to expose a sliver of your mech to see and shoot.

Someone skilled with the clan laser hunchback can essentially shoot without receiving return fire, if they work that geometry advantage properly.

Meanwhile you are stuck looking for 3 pixels to pop up over a hill. Posted Image Lucky to see them before they shoot, much less be able to adjust your aim and hit them before their laser volley is done and they have already retreated down the hill.

And if you have something like a Boar's head with laser arms, you might not even be able to return fire at all without just hitting dirt, due to your own geometry.
