I've been away a long time and only just restarted and looking at all the hero mechs available as rewards for the current event I have no idea which ones are great and which ones to avoid. Any recommendations on any must haves from the list?

Hi Jelan,
take a look to Youtube and search for MWO Hero 2024 then you gets some guys that can you tell best
which Heros are worth the money.
And look more then one because all of the youtubers has his on favs.

Assault - Koloss or Ultraviolet

Heavy - Virago

Medium - Pakhet

Light - Purifier.

it all depends on what you are looking for. i would just take a look through them and look at the quirks/ hardpoints and see what might work best for what you want. there are some really nice ones that get overlooked (hell put an S.B. Gauss on the Hunchback-Grid Iron and it becomes a nasty piece of work (don't forget some MLs for back-up))

Light- Urbie K-9
Medium- Hunchback Grid Iron
Heavy- Roughneck Bolt
Assault- Nightstar Wolf Phoenix

(i picked up the Nightstar during the last free hero mech event and loaded it up with 2 TB-15s, 2 TB-4s, and 4 MLs and have been doing some real good work with it.)


Edit --note to PGI it would help if you put the mechs in alphabetical order on the event dropdown)

also if you are looking for a good Medium LRM boat the Kintaro- Golden Boy works rather well. (i picked it up since i already have the Grid Iron) i had a number of really good games with it today. (loaded with 1 LRM-10, 4 LRM-5, and 3 MLs for back-up. though i sort of wish i could have just done 6 LRM-5 but didn't have the hardpoints)) i can see it making a good MRM boat as well, its has a really nice +30% missile velocity quirk (you seem to need at least a total of +40% to bring LRM to what they once were without quirks)
