We're probably going to want a respray between missions when we go from Urban to Desert, or from Arctic to Jungle environments. Are we going to have the ability to save a set of custom paint job variants so we can switch between missions? And would, or should, these resprays cost C-bills?

I'm thinking this might have to be done in a very coordinated manner for groups of allies to keep their uniforms in line, so is it reasonable to ask for a way to share paint schemes with other players to all members of a unit can have Desert, Jungle, Urban, etc. cammo schemes that all match are are ready-to-go?

There is no in-depth information currently available about this feature other than that custom paint will be part of the game. I would suggest that you shorten this into a succinct direct question and phrase it at the next Q&A posting which will be located under the ANNOUNCEMENTS sub-forum.

This is how i would like to see it done, your technician has his education wich had some theoretical and practical hours put into how some basic paintschemes are set. If you like other paint job your little tech is "sent" to a course learning even more about paintingschemes(wich ofc cost some RL money, after all nothing is free in the big bad world).then each time you want to change paintjobs it would cost some ingame C-Bills to change paintjobs as i can just imagen how much paint you need to use too repaint a warmachine thats 10+ meters tall.

my two cents

I accept your challenge, Sir.

Edit: But is this really an Information Warfare question?

Could as well work as a "lease arrangement", where you pay for a certain amount of time during which you can use the custom paintjob.

Its almost certain they will make you pay money for some/most paint jobs.
They have already said they arent going to sell anything that makes you a stronger player, so it really limits what else they have left to sell.
Paint jobs are an easy answer for them, it allows them to stick to their promise and it earns them money.
Its very rare that they put time limits on something you paid real life money for. Battlefield heroes has a time limit for items if you use in game currency, but if you used dollars, then the item is permanent.

The community is generally older, and has been saving up money for years to spend on a battletech game, the devs could could charge for items that you the purchasing player ALONE see, and the community will still buy it, if only to support the game.

Each layer of paint should add up to weight that must be managed in the mechlab unless real life time is spent scrapping it down to base metal. If you don't put your mech on blocks for a RL day in order to have the layer of paint removed, you should be forced to reduce your weapon loadout due to the fractional weight of all the paint.

But really though, I think a c-bill cost to change out paint scheme would be a good money sink.

The general F2P model is to charge for cosmetic changes either with in game currancy (ie cbills or maybe faction points you earn after matches) or with real money.

Standard practice has more basic base line color schemes be avaible via in game currancy and specialized ones (maybe specific unit colors or emblems) be only availbe though real money.
