Would you dumb asses please quit shooting the red box when there are team mates between you and the red box!

I am frequently surprised by how often this game conspires to make it appear as if the red target brackets around an enemy 'Mech are around an entirely separate 'Mech that is often blue. I've had to check myself more times than the targeting system should really be allowed to cause, and there's a few times I miss the Spot check.
Unfortunate fact of (simulated digital) warfare. Occasionally you catch butt bullets from blues. Sucks, but eh.

What I wish is that they do what World of Tanks did. . . Get rid of Team Damage and Team Kills. It'd make things a lot easier, and a helluva lot simpler, too!

Avoiding team damage is one of the few skill expressions present in this game. It needs to stay. Its one of a small number of things that separate terribad players from good players.
Like, if you're regularly shooting your teammates you suck. The game isn't broken you just need to play better.
Note, I'm not accusing you of being bad or shooting your teammates. Just stating that avoiding team damage is part of the skill in this game.

Would be a real easy fix if they just put a blue circle with a slash through it when you hold your cursor over an ally, or cause team damage. Could even make it glitch out when too close to enemy ECM.

I do my best to not shoot friendlies, unless they deserve it.

The IFF in this game leaves something to be desired.
But if the devs did not want blue on blue they could have easily coded it so...

NO. It is up to you to know where your shots are going. This is part of teamwork.

Not sure if PGI has these stats anywhere, but I am probably top 20 friendly damage dealers in the game. So, I believe I am something of an expert on dealing team damage. As such, 90% of the time it is entirely my own fault, if unintended. 5% may or may not be intentional (ahem). The other 5% may not be anyone's fault but rather the consequence of the frenetic nature of close in brawls where stuff just happens. Main point is that the decision of whether or not to commit war crimes is one made almost always by you.

Friendly damage is also a way of encouraging fellow mechs to think before jumping in front of you to kill steal. My last example was a Locust who dropped in front of my twin LBX-20s.
I was NOT happy I got a time out for something that was not my fault, just because someone wanted to play catch the bullet.
