Just finished playing with some friends on the newest patch for almost 6 hours straight! The game ran way WAY better than before, in fact i actually didn't even think about the performance or frames at all except for some dropship dust particles making me lag, which is a good thing! We were playing crossplay across Steam, Xbox on PC, and Xbox series X.
The game has been really fun and a great experience. I think my only complaint so far is the mechlab being pretty slow to build in, and things are listed in ways that make it take longer to identify something than is needed. For example, i was looking for SSRM2's to throw on a mech and thought for some reason they weren't in the game or weren't available to pick up, but they were just on the upper row of the item selection row. I think it'd be a lot more organized if things were in an organized vertical list like in MWO or MW5M, rather than being huge horizontal squares. Selecting individual omnipods is also more complicated than it should be, given that my brother didn't even know it was possible to do, and i didn't notice until a few hours in.
As of now, we don't see any way to change which character the other players in the lobby can play as, which means they're stuck with whoever they're auto assigned upon joining my lobby. On top of this, if someone disconnects and loads back in, they're given a different character to control, which means they can't use the mech they were planning to use. The players who join the leaders lobby are also unable to change mechs out with any of the AI like the leader is able to, which would be nice to be able to do. On top of this, if a player is killed, they can't take control of any of the remaining AI players like the lobby leader is able to do when their mech is destroyed, this means when someones mech falls, they just have to watch everyone else have fun when there's a perfectly good AI mech that could be controlled by them, which is kind of sad ;-;
There is also no Ebon Jaguar and that makes me sadder than anything else
Despite my grievances, the game has been amazing and super fun. I'm loving the engagements and combat scenarios so far. The first touchdown on Turtle bay was a really fun experience and it was super cool to see the enemy forces completely underestimate our mechs superior range to theirs. This is as far as we've gotten so far and I'm very excited to try more :3
edit: forgot to mention, there's this bug that's driving me nuts, every time i've closed the game, my control mappings reset to default and i have to set them again, on top of that, this patch actually seems to have hidden the [X] button that clears a button mapping for the first of the two button map possibilities. This means that instead of completely unassigning "target friendly" so i could use it for "command wheel", i had to instead tell "target friendly" to use a button on my keyboard i wasn't using so that the Q key could be used for command wheel. I'm sure that's just a bug with this patch, as it was there just yesterday
