...because it's so good. It'll probably never happen, but I love it. It's a great mech.

The problem is the clans would make it bigger, and its small size is one of its strengths. Having said that, I think it might be possible to increase it to a 55-ton mech and still keep its strengths.

Things I'd change:
-Kick up the max weight to 55 tons
-The clan standards on weight savings: full FF, and endo-steel. Endo-steel will set the chasses at 2.75 tons down from 4.5 tons, saving 1.75 total
-PGI is using the math of 100 points per ton, at least for the vindicator (stock it's 3 points per ton standard, but 30 points per ton; PGI puts on 439 points, which is about 100 per ton at 4.5 tons total).
-Endo chassis at 55 tons gives us 2.75 tons savings

-For the 1X, almost the same build as I'm doing: ERPPC (but save 1 ton with clan), streak6 and save 1.5 tons, and with the saved weight add another hardpoint for a LRM10. Replace the Beagle I use with a clan LAP and save 0.5 tons. Replace the 3 HMGs with clan HMGs, saving 0.75 tons.

-Use the 2 tons from weapons, and 1.75 tons from the chassis, to add a lot more armor. Arms are somewhat light; add 25 points to each, 30 to the side torsos, and 40 to the CT. That's 150 points. Stock armor is 4.5 tons of normal armor. MWO puts this as 439 points stock. Sarna puts the weight at 4.5 tons, but it's 30 points per ton, so that should be 135 points total, so MWO puts on about 100 points per ton of standard armor O_o;; alright, suspending disbelief, another 150 points would be just 1.5 tons of armor. The stock armor is 9 tons + quirks btw. Using FF and increasing the armor puts us down 0.75 tons when including the endo weight savings.

-The weight savings even after adding more points of armor leaves us with 2.25 tons. Use 1.5 tons for the LRM 10 ammo

-Still saving 0.75 tons at this point, so we're at 44.25 tons.

-Kick up engine to XL350, increase engine weight by 4.5 tons from 9 to 13.5, HUGE speed bump to 104kph stock (according to MWO)
-At 48.75 tons at this point
-Add 4 more jump jets; goes to 50.75 tons
-Add 3 more heat sinks
-Maybe get rid of the Clan-LAP, add Clan ECM, and add a little armor back to go to 55 tons.

Does what the vindicator currently does, except stock it's significantly faster, jumps better, has ECM, has better cooling, better armor, and significantly more pod space. Only disadvantage would be that the structure is still a little weak, but it would probably still not be a big mech and ECM + ER PPC would make it a nightmare at long range combined with the ability to poptart like nobody's business.

Am I reaching here? Does none of this sound realistic? I started off doing this just as thought exercise, and I think it's just a pipe dream at this point.

So turn a 45T IS into a 55T clan mech... because there aren't any clan mechs in the 55t range already?

It's really good at hit-and-run and pop tart attacks with the double-initial-thrust quirk. Anything that will maximize this while trying to keep it as small as possible.

The only reason I thought of uptonning it is because that's what the clans are knkown for when they adopt a mech (warhammer IIc, marauder IIc)
