Short answer, Matador: I don't care. You wanna be one of those CoD kiddies bragging about all your 1337 360 noscopes and calling everybody who doesn't have their very own trendy headshot montage uploaded to YouTube a total scrubpuppy, do you. I make no bones about the fact that I am not an elite player. Says so right there under my name.
I. Don't. Care. I wanted to crack a mild joke about the fact that 'Guillotine' is the name of a heavy IntroTech IS 'Mech and tossed in a bit about the public perception of the "Guillotine" achievable as being one of those things people have to go out of their way to farm in weird, unintuitive ways becasue nobody 'just gets' headshots. You can take that as a personal affront all you like. Have fun.
Now. On a funnier note: who here agrees that the theoretical Guillotine Hero 'Mech needs to be named "La Resistance!" and be armed with a classic IS headchopper like an AC/20 somewhere? Hueh. Make it as French as Loup de Guerre with a warhorn that sounds like a guillotine blade followed by confetti. Because why not throw in an obscure Halo reference (Grunt Birthday Party) while we're at it?

This matador kid is obviously trolling while acting like they are the goat in knowing what is going on. When they dont. Best to just let em go by the wayside. Would be nice if mods stepped in and dealt with people who choose to stir the pot for no other reason than to stir the pot, but here we are.
*shrug* it will be fine.

I love how nasty people get so easily.
As for salty? Yeah i am a bit as this person in particular has a very un team-friendly playstyle and has been called out on it on numerous occasions. His normal playstyle hurts teams-I've spectated him deliberately not shooting enemies before and watching a team mate die to those same enemies, just so he can get a backshot....
Jealous? Not in the least.
The reason i made this thread is I assumed it'd take huge skill to achieve, the replies have informed me actually otherwise. It's not something I think I'd be able to do, due to shaky hands due to some spinal damage. But I was curious.
And, mr Mayhem....why so nasty and accusatory? You don't know me at all and have no idea what's in my mind when i put finger to key...do you?
"the fact that he didn't follow up speaks volumes. i think he wanted to complain and run instead of soaking up valuable advice that would help him both get and avoid headshots."
Not very impressed with that mate and was completely uncalled for. again, you don't know me at all and just assumed very snarkily I may add-my motives.
I've been headshot TWICE since I started playing. 8k games:)
was mostly referring to op. unless that was you. i cant be expected to remember everyone's alts, so if thats the case my bad.

yea. if he thinks he is going to be a 99th percentile player overnight and headshot t1s, hes got another thing coming. maybe once he gets over his ego he stands a chance.

Some other silly achievement are "All around helper" where you have to have, what? 10,000 assists in every weight class! A bit excessive. Especially for whatever the paltry reward is. Those achievement were never really balanced for effort and reward. I wish they had added more along the way too, especially some fun and creative ones. Overall, the achievements are uninspired. Event rewards essentially replaced the achievement system beyond the Cadet Bonus so I guess it's all fine.

So lets see now, we have gone from saying its suss for people to get guillotine, then it was oh it makes you a bad player and teammate even if it is possible, then it was only low tier possible to do, and now lets try ad hominem attacks on one of the posters pointing out you were mistaken and starting to insult videos people make that prove headshots were possible, not a bad players, not low tier.
Really classy guys, real classy.
I've been playing for a long time and never came on here to post until recently, and I've noticed the vast majority of all posts are made by the same people time after time right? But I've also noticed a real absense of posters being able to walk-back comments or just throw their hands up and say they may have been wrong.
You guys literally talked your way all the way around a topic, manuvering with each new reveal in points and evidence all so that you didn't have to just do the tiny tiny little gesture of saying something like "hey I didn't know, that's cool they can do that" or "wow never thought of it like that, impressive" any of it, not on this thread nor the headshot thread where you are all present, not in either. And now you are down to insulting me, so classy, this is what you have learned or come to after being the biggest posters on this particular forum after years? Do all of us a favor, go find a mirror and read the stuff you post here out loud into the mirror to yourselves, soak that in.
See, this is why all the other platforms have more discussion, builds, tactics, etc... and why I should have remembered that posting here is pointless.

Double sigh.
Here's the thing, Mayhem. Your first post in this thread was, and I will literally quote:

I think the funny part is how all the responses gently informed him that it's totally possible but in ways that will not ease his saltiness at all.
WHich is clearly and obviously skill shaming and not-so-humblebragging. Which has been your stance this entire thread. You are not trying to prove "headshots are possible", because everyone knows headshots are possible. High-tier players can easily threaten poor play with headcaps, especially with headhunter builds. Your response has consistently been more to the tune of "lol look at the salty scrubs with no headshots", which is very much in line with the CoD Kiddie mantra of "tHe sKiLlShOt iS aLl tHaT mAtTeRs!" without any attention paid to the idea that the dedicated headhunting behavior people are talking about is bad for the team and bad for the game. Much like how the 360 noscope montage hunting CoD kiddie is an active detriment to their team, somebody actively headhunting in MWO is generally going to be a detriment to theirs.
People absolutely can and absolutely do get headcaps, yes. If that is your stance then okay. Here's your cookie: you are correct about that. People do not generally get the Guillotine title because effective players who are playing to win, against other players who are also playing to win, generally only get incidental headcaps. 'Incidental headcaps' are not Guillotine. A Guillotine achievement is much like a Death Star achievement - it's so rarely genuine that people's first reaction when they see it is suspicion of chicanery, not admiration of skill.
If that sounds "salty" to you, then okay. I'm salty. Whatevs. Not like I'm a sKiLlShOt chaser after all. Clearly I'm not good enough for it, so take your victory I suppose.
