some thoughts of a Person having seen some game-streams about MW5 Clans.
First congrats to PGI for releasing the game looking absolutlely gorgeous.
The game offers without doubt the best cutscenes so far in the IP and delivers - especially for the Loreheads.
The Music seems to be a very good fit so far i could isten to it.
The Combat seems a bit faster than MW5 Mercs but it fits the narrative of the more agile Clan Forces.
+ general Combat was allways a strongpoint of the PGI games (at least at some Point in some iteration) and it Looks MW5 Clans delivers.
- The Weapon Sound may lack some "Oomph" as it is heard in the vids and streams i had access to.
- In movement, especially in jumping and falling down there is a strongly percived lack of "Mass" and it feels more like styrofoam objects moving.
- Aircraft but also some Jumpship Scenes also show a lack of "Mass" and Aircraft looks it moves like in a "Stingray" movie - the goalpost should have been "Mechwarrior Hired Steel" quality!
~ the AI is yet to assess in its qualities as i felt uncomfortable to do that based on vids/streams.
* i would like increased lorecaccurate heatmanagement and heatpenalties with increasing difficulty.
The UI seems serviceable albeit a little non intuitive and technocratic - would a Clan UI look this way and have any Clan specific quirks and aesthetics?
The Battlegrid UI Looks very good - though i cant assess the Gameplay impact.
The game still seems to be targeted at Loreheads and the Initiated while offering little to ease in and embrace the uninitaited, the newb as it overwhelms them with Jargon, Terms and Concepts unfamiliar to them and does practically nothing to address that.
By large and far i deem this a good start for the game so far and hope PGI will be able to improve upon the foundation they layed down with it!
On the public critique side of the things it seems some of it is pretty unfounded and superficial while others is very legit:
For example some people state that the characters in the cuscenes look practically ghostly pale and i guess that is depending on the graphic settings a legit thing.
German website "Computerbase" stated that there may be a problem with FSR on Radeon GPUs as they got inconsistent and implausible frametimes form it and crap inputlag - dont know if that is already adresses in a patch.
Crashes seem a mixxed bag of instable systems and a demanding game engine - that is a case by case Thing.
On the other hand expecting great FPS on totaly unbalanced PC Systems with good CPUs and crap GPUs (and vice versa) plus a lack of RAM/VRAM that seems to me nonlegit and superficial.
Overall i Guess UE5 is more demanding and less forgiving than the general audience is aware of and expecations superceded the reality of the possible.
Time will tell…for now i guess celebration is justified for the release of the first MW Clan game since decades!
Sheers!
PS: I would like if PGI offers a free of charge demo that demo that starts in the sibko phase starting b4 the timeline of the game explaining the Jargon and Concepts while leading new Players into the game offering a nice 10% discount and some Honor Badge when they achive success and buy into the full game.
Also a Benchmark Programm showing the glory of Mechwarrior Combat "Hired Steel Style" would do wonders to the awareness of the IP i bet.
