Hello Folks,
some thoughts of a Person having seen some game-streams about MW5 Clans.

First congrats to PGI for releasing the game looking absolutlely gorgeous.
The game offers without doubt the best cutscenes so far in the IP and delivers - especially for the Loreheads.
The Music seems to be a very good fit so far i could isten to it.
The Combat seems a bit faster than MW5 Mercs but it fits the narrative of the more agile Clan Forces.
+ general Combat was allways a strongpoint of the PGI games (at least at some Point in some iteration) and it Looks MW5 Clans delivers.
- The Weapon Sound may lack some "Oomph" as it is heard in the vids and streams i had access to.
- In movement, especially in jumping and falling down there is a strongly percived lack of "Mass" and it feels more like styrofoam objects moving.
- Aircraft but also some Jumpship Scenes also show a lack of "Mass" and Aircraft looks it moves like in a "Stingray" movie - the goalpost should have been "Mechwarrior Hired Steel" quality!
~ the AI is yet to assess in its qualities as i felt uncomfortable to do that based on vids/streams.
* i would like increased lorecaccurate heatmanagement and heatpenalties with increasing difficulty.

The UI seems serviceable albeit a little non intuitive and technocratic - would a Clan UI look this way and have any Clan specific quirks and aesthetics?
The Battlegrid UI Looks very good - though i cant assess the Gameplay impact.

The game still seems to be targeted at Loreheads and the Initiated while offering little to ease in and embrace the uninitaited, the newb as it overwhelms them with Jargon, Terms and Concepts unfamiliar to them and does practically nothing to address that.

By large and far i deem this a good start for the game so far and hope PGI will be able to improve upon the foundation they layed down with it!

On the public critique side of the things it seems some of it is pretty unfounded and superficial while others is very legit:
For example some people state that the characters in the cuscenes look practically ghostly pale and i guess that is depending on the graphic settings a legit thing.

German website "Computerbase" stated that there may be a problem with FSR on Radeon GPUs as they got inconsistent and implausible frametimes form it and crap inputlag - dont know if that is already adresses in a patch.

Crashes seem a mixxed bag of instable systems and a demanding game engine - that is a case by case Thing.

On the other hand expecting great FPS on totaly unbalanced PC Systems with good CPUs and crap GPUs (and vice versa) plus a lack of RAM/VRAM that seems to me nonlegit and superficial.

Overall i Guess UE5 is more demanding and less forgiving than the general audience is aware of and expecations superceded the reality of the possible.

Time will tell…for now i guess celebration is justified for the release of the first MW Clan game since decades!

Sheers!

PS: I would like if PGI offers a free of charge demo that demo that starts in the sibko phase starting b4 the timeline of the game explaining the Jargon and Concepts while leading new Players into the game offering a nice 10% discount and some Honor Badge when they achive success and buy into the full game.

Also a Benchmark Programm showing the glory of Mechwarrior Combat "Hired Steel Style" would do wonders to the awareness of the IP i bet.

^^^ Do as LordNothing does - so that good fund to good game then goes! :)

Some funny stuff happens in the translated versions it seems as i now was able to watch a german streamer playing in german:
- The localization seems to be done by AI that takes things literally where a translation of the meaing would be appropriate - it really so far appears to be german at times at toddler grade.

- The german Streamer who is aware of the of the Battletech Universe and likes it quite a lot did know that there exist Mechwarrior games but ignored them all along bcs it was not known to him Mechwarior and Battletech root in the same IP.
Wie konnte ich MechWarrior 5 verpassen?!
Aside of the funny translation he was quite excited playing the game and enjoye it a great lot - but man, it seems IP-awareness is to be worked on!

GOG release pls!

And what do i mean with funny translation...
For example - i guess it means "Power Up" but in german it reads "Mech Verstärken" which has the meaning of "improve/upgrade Mech".
Another one - i guess it means "Throttle Decay" in geman reads "Gasverlust" which has the meaning of "fuel leak/loss" or "gas leak".

None of that makes any sense but adds confusion at worst and laughter at best. Posted Image

As i dont own the game i only catch a glimpse of the inadequacies of the translation but its enough to get an overall picture...

Sheers!

PS: GOG release pls!

Also the optimization is....pretty bad. Wait for some patches at the very least.

Gorgeous? This is built in UE5, have you seen what UE5 is capable of? I only found out today I've been playing on medium settings, since I haven't seen a game in years that doesn't automatically detect your hardware and set everything to maximum, so I changed it to maximum settings and guess what? I can't tell the difference, they literally look identical. MW5C isn't a bad looking game, but like practically everything else in it, the graphics are distinctly last gen because they're not getting close to what you can get out of the engine. Take a look at these vistas as a comparison.

Well, it is probably a matter of expectations and in a Mech game i dont to watch the game form the perspective of a Grunt but from the height of the top of a tall Mech.
As i have the game not myself i can only state things according to what i was able to witness and that looks good to me.

What i dont like i.e. that much is how buildings and structures collapse when a Mech smashes through as they seem basic and uninsoired but that animation and not graphic.

I also do not like that Mechs lack mass and behave like styrofoam objects.

That the Clanners look a little foreing is also expected as they are contrary to some peoples belief are note bred to become "Supermodels" but to perform and "look" is an afterhought - they are genetically engineered performance breeds trained rigorously with the utmost harsh selection criterias based on personal performance.

So, there are things to work on, the UI is not that great is another point, but to me its a gorgeous Mechgame.

I just recently finished the campaign. Overall I liked the game, and had fun with it. I don't think it will have the replay-ability like MW5:mercs does. But I found the mission designs way more entertaining in MW5:clans than what MW5:mercs provided. The mission designs in MW5:mercs come across as someone who put 20 minutes of thought behind each one. While in MW5:clans the missions seem to have a lot more thought put into them. The missions seem to flow better, they also change them up enough to where it didn't feel like I was doing the same thing over again each time. Some of the complaints about the boss type missions I think are fair. I didn't really enjoy the SOKOL fight, and there are three missions where that thing shows up. Just in the later missions it's not a big deal, since by the time you see them again you have better weapons. I found the story entertaining. The voice acting isn't great but it was ok. It's not a AAA game. If you have concerns about it I would just wait for a sale down the road or if you have game pass give it try. If I had to give a list of cons, they would be about minor inconvenience than anything major. I don't care for the tonnage limit. I also wish you had the ability to call in an ammo drop instead of finding some spot during a scan.

I would have liked a few more Scout, and maybe a few rapid response (as medium mechs in a support role) missions scattered through the campaign to mix it up a bit and give a reason to keep and use lighter Mechs after the first few missions
