All the praise about PGI caring for the lore and lore here and lore there. I congratulate you for this successful deception. After playing for just over two hours (unfortunately just over), i can say: is there a way to get out of these walkers and get a VTOL instead? For apparently Armored Core Warrior 5 - Clans is badly balanced, the ground units are weak, bosses are called SOKOLs.
Seriously: who had the idea, that we would need bosses with a huge health bar in this game? And then, that these bosses would be VTOLs?
So really, if we need bosses which are not mechs (but why is the very -first- boss not a mech at least?), there'd other options. Full sized dropships, shuttles, mobile structures, etc. But for anybody with just minimum knowledge in the lore, VTOLs are out.

Uninstalled. Played Just Over 2 Hours, Can Not Refound. :(

I'm watching the cutscenes and the lore issues annoy me. Whoever did the research dropped the ball. It's like they didn't even bother to read the basic stuff. I'll buy later down the road, when the kinks are ironed out and the price goes down.

what are the lore issues you're referring to, I haven't noticed any that are very severe (at the most stuff like no ceremonial outfit when the khans meet, just that kind of small stuff that I understand them choosing to not include for new people)

There are no lore issues.
Battletech has inner sphere propaganda about the clans. There are a lot of propaganda in mechwarrior games as example the Quickdraw mech was to replace the Rifleman but the quickdraw doesn't even have a single ballistic hardpoint and neither by standard is neither equipped with any ballistic weapons to be replacing the role of a ( blackjack, rifleman, jaegermech, marauder) sniper mech.
Excuses are constantly made up that their mech was supposed to have stealth capacity. When they can't sell the mech them give them cool names like "Assassin"
Clan had battlemechs but the spear of the invasion wanted to field test new weapons. The clothes you see in mechwarrior 5 mercenaries is what you would see clans be using. Since the secret is that you're trying to invade the inner sphere with a single Javelin.
The clothes of the periphery had no dress code as civilization ended and they were sitting half nude by faulty heatsinks and damaged mechs known as "zombie mechs" since they were missing an arm or a leg.
Some may claim that it is not canon to have space fighter sized bosses but it's mostly by being caught off guard by new content.
The main thing , nobody knows about mechwarrior or battletech. It hit the target audience but it doesn't target "casual players" who need to be introduced into the lore by explaining the begining.
Lots of mechs and vehicles are "hidden" who have been so by legal issues.
The big complain I heard is why do we not have Ebon Jaguar? At least provide a jack in the box or secret mech to obtain.
The big issue is that content who meant for clans has become the idea of inner sphere.
But clans they're the star league , how deep core inner sphere do you ask them to be?
