Thats what I want to know...

Any announcement on how many there will be in a single map? per side?

How many would you like to see? What would be too many, what would be too few?

16 v 16 is the max i ever want to see.
Anything more would just turn the game into a slugfest. I think this has been mentioned before though. [12 v 12s?] But don't quote me on that.

Well, in tandem with the whole perspective of Role Warfare the developers have been talking about, it seems to me that there are going to be several full lances of 'Mechs on each team, so, I'm guessing, it's going to be something around 16 x 16 for the maximum value, which would allow for one entire lance of Lights, another of Mediums, and the remaining two, Heavies and Assaults, for each team...
...With such forces on the field, tactics, and therefore the command Role, become very important, to the benefit of Mercenary Corps, primarily.

But, for most casual drops, involving Houses or Lone Wolves, I would expect no more than two full lances for each team.
That's about 8 x 8, which is just about enough that some thinking and teamplay is required, but not essential, with shorter matches at about ten minutes length.

They are talking about 12 v 12. If that is too much they will scale it accordingly.

Unfortunately I don't have the post off hand but it's in the Dev Announcement section SOMEWHERE in one of the Q&A. Go forth and use SEARCH feature my friend!
