IDK what to do with this thing except put a couple of ERPPC on it.

With the ammo quirks and the cooldown quirks on the so8 I could suggest some meme builds with HAGs and Gauss. Even say a UAC20 if it will fit. (Not in game atm so trying to remember off the top of my head what I was messing around with.)

There's quite a few different things you can do with a SHC, some of which require the MI omnipods.

cERPPCs + ECM is of course a very classic build (and my favourite), but a few other options include:

2x cLPLs (ECM suggested)
3x cERLLs (ECM suggested)
3x HLLs (ECM suggested)
1x UAC20 (ECM suggested)
1x HAG30 (ECM optional)
Streakboat (ECM optional)
3x Plasma + PAC4 or PAC8 (ECM optional)
SRM24 + 2x energy of choice (no ECM)
3x Plasma + APG (no ECM)
2x Beam + LMGs (no ECM)

ATM and LRM builds are also possible and but suffer from the usual problems of ATMs and LRMs, mitigated somewhat by the SHC's mobility.

Also, when building, don't sleep on the B right torso. It has no hardpoints, but the strong heat and cooldown quirks are extremely handy. The ERPPC, HAG, and lasvom designs above can all be purely arm-mounted and so benefit strongly.

Given this is a CS reward, there are three variants that rely on at least one omnipod of the Mishi that are probably standout builds: 2 ERPPCs is good, but the best build for it doesn't require omnipods from the Mishi, and is the same hardpoint layout as the 3 ERLL build (both run supporting ballistics, 5 APG for PPCs and 5 LMGs for ERLL).

I will note that the Beam Laser variants of the Shadow Cat always seem kinda weird in that you have a 'Mech whose whole role/identity is generally to be a sneaky flanker and stealthy fire support dork, and you're putting giant purple laser pointers on it showing God and Hans Davion exactly where your 'Mech is for extended durations every time you fire. The DPS is pretty swank, sure, but an easily spotted Shadow Cat is generally a dead Shadow Cat. Especially in Puglandia where people have an especial (and largely unwarranted) hateboner for Shadow Cats specifically as the poster child for "The last guy in Team Deathmatch always hides and prolongs the fight." If people see a Shadow Cat, they WILL go out of their way to try and kill it early.

You are generally taking angles where you can punish targets crossing open lanes. It definitely doesn't work as well when your team has zero presence though since the opfor can just turn their attention to you easily.

Against lights though it's really strong since you can just beam down their legs.

Fair enough, though in my experience assuming my team will have zero presence is usually an important point for any 'Mech build. Heh. Puglandians aren't exactly known for their cohesive stratagems or their bold and decisive pushes into enemy space to seize ground and retain the initiative.

If your team has zero presence you are generally SoL anyway regardless of the mech. You need them to at least be up to be meatshields.

Hm. Well, I've got a spare Mishipeshu now anyways, heh. may as well get home, boot up the client, and see how MWO plays on the new PC and how a Beams-n-Boolets Shadow Cat works. 'Mech still has the infamous Shadow Cat mobility, just gotta try and turn on my Lolcust/Osiris Brain and treat the 'Mech as deathly allergic to enemy attention. Not that I'm much good at that, but every once in a while I get a nice tear. And if the beams don't work, that PlasmAPG build honestly looks like a slick interceptor/dogfighter with some light pokery going on.

For mine, I have a UAC20 and two HML with ECM. Works pretty good for me.

I'm trying to stay with the original omnipods, to keep the SO8.

As soon as game servers get back up, I was going to test some builds.

maybe a HAG20 ERMLx2 with original omnipods?

I was also looking at swap pods to use either 6 energy + 3 ballistic, or 4 energy + 6 ballistic.

Maybe a 6MPL build?

Or a 6MLP +3LMG?

Or 3 Plasma + 6 APGauss?

I also just made a build with 2HLL + 4HML, it's stupid hot with a crazy alpha, still testing it out.

I'm still thinking about possibilities, without shaving too much armor..

Really enjoying a 3xPlasma 6xAPGauss build, only possible with the Mishipeshu right arm.

Why do I find out about things like this a week after.... Oh well. Was the original window to claim longer than a week?
