Is it just me or is the Bane/kraken WAAAAY to squishy for having nearly 100 armor across the torsos.

In multiple games i have been merely kissed by a swarm of missiles or a couple autocannon shells and the paper doll goes from clear immediately into orange, or i get the RT armor knocked into orange by a pair of PPC shots at long range. (at most the PPC guy only hit me with 15 damage, orange is below half)

i have Annihilators/Marauder IIC/Victors/Supernovae/Highlanders with similar armor numbers (+/- 15 points or so) and they can tank getting shot with fifty times what has done that to any one of my Banes.

To those who have it, what do you think, i have a couple high ranked pilots in my unit that have similar issues, its a glass cannon yes, but even the mechs i have that are similar, can take a hit and keep alive long enough to blast the offender into oblivion at least once. The Bane cant even manage that 90% of the time.

(the legend Kasai was similarly unnaturally soft, the Gausszilla is too, but i managed with that one eventually, because the armor is higher, or its armor actually works, and i was playing the GZ wrong)

I get that the bane is wide, and is therefore a fire magnet, but I wholly agree that it does not reflect the stated armor values. Either math is off or this thing seriously needs a buff for the sake of survivability. The King Crab doesn't die this fast. Hell I stepped down to a bushwhacker and took MORE fire and didnt die as fast.

Maybe we can get a bluepost on this for clarification or to agree something isn't mathing?

my king crabs could eat four AC20 shells to the chest and stay alive long enough to do it twice. there's something fishy here

the Bane is junk as it is at the moment, and the Bane 3 in particular is the worst crap I have of all my 850 mechs.

Never played such a pile of garbage that only has rocket slots and can't do ANYTHING except for 15% more range.

15% for SRM...useless in QP

15% for LRM...just as useless in QP, as NO ONE even remotely scouts or uses a UAV...

NO JJ

NO energy slots for TAG

No armor

Nothing nothing nothing

I don't understand why such a chassis was released, sure they need money but this is a disgrace

From what they posted in the preview, this is apparently working as intended. They said that it would be high in damage, but would be a glass cannon.

Yeah not wasting $70 for a "Glass Cannon"

Gotta wonder what the hell was going on in their minds with this Dung heap!

Probably something along the lines of "oh hey looky looky, new bad mofo'ing assault mech, everyone is going to want one"

Several of the Banes were underperforming, and got buffed; another was holding its own, even with having a target on its back for being the new 'mech release.

I'm pretty sure the Bane will be fine.

Yeah so there have been more than a few threads started on the Subject that the Bane just plain sucks PERIOD. Hell I've fought Chargers and Hatamoto's that could survive longer than this dung heap of an overpriced package.

And in those threads, there are people who are still having fun with the Bane and finding it to be effective if piloted carefully.

The Charger and Hatamoto-chi are both much faster 'mechs, allowing them to maneuver - and the Charger has a positive win-loss and reasonable average damage per match in the latest stat dump. More likely you're seeing the mobility to get out of trouble and builds that facilitate twisting better on one side, and Bane staring builds with less mobility and speed. You're going to have to put up some proof if you want me to believe that they lose a staring contest faster than the Bane, though; anecdotes aren't good evidence for this. The 'mech's game telemetry doesn't rely on your or my subjective impressions and recollections - and since they just did a balance pass based on that telemetry, the Bane is going to be ok. If the underperforming variants still don't do well, they'll be buffed again.
