Just wanted to share my distaste for the rocket launchers in this game. Not only does it ruin your match to get one shot in the back, but it is also not a good strategy for the person who used all their ammo in one shot. I don't understand why a weapon like this is in the game. It takes two people out of the game and causes frustration. I don't want to play with the players who uses them, but don't have that choice. It really reduces the quality of strategy and tactics of the game. Please remove rockets from mwo.

I agree. They only exist to grief one person and then you become dead weight afterward.

Do you have any stats that would show how often it happens?

It's call human behavior. It's persistent.

I suspect rockets were 'intended' to fill missles slots when normal missiles can't. A noble intention, but in the end, it's just a tool to ruin the game.

I've played thousands of games of MWO and have yet to see rocket launchers ruin a single one.

They were a problem during events before they adjusted the cool down time on them.

RL10s can be useful on mechs like the Stalker, not so much to fire but rather to get the durability bonus on mechs with missile bay doors.

Good hunting,

I have a few Mechs with 2-5 rocket launchers mounted, and the reasons behind the decision to mount can vary.

1. Just as a filler for tonnage I can't seem to work into a Mech that otherwise works perfectly well as is.
2. As a way to add weapons to a Mech without summoning an absurdly huge weapon pod, which will only get shot at.
3. As a short-range finisher once I see a Mech with exposed internals.

While I can't think of a time where a player went all in on rocket launchers, other than an amusing B33F video I watched, I highly doubt they are game-breaking. As others have said, once they take out an enemy Mech, it is off to the cap circle for them as they are otherwise dead-weight from that point forward.

This community at various times:

-LRM's are a no skill weapon that let noobs farm damage at no cost and ruin games.
-Long range "sniper" play lets people hide in the back and ruin other people's games.

etc.

Rockets are just another thing some folks utilize that others think ruin the game. Same as it ever was.

I prefer numbers and facts over dramatism...if anything there should be a system in the game to reload the rocket launchers after being used.

also you are complaining about a weapon that can only be fired once...it's a high risk high reward kinda weapon (some of us dig that) sooo try to stop being the weakest link in your team, which brings me to another point, if someone manage to get the drop on you using rocket launchers, guess what? you took one for the team, because that mech wont be able to kill anyone else.

some of us like it, some of us are glad we at least have the option for such things...otherwise it gets kinda boring or monotonous.

PS

get good kid! because if someone can own you RL sure them pilots was bored or experimenting and they sure can own you with anything else.

No but from personal experience they just blow their load, ruin my armor, then get killed immediately after or they end up doing like 200 dmg in the end of the game because they have less tonnage for consistent guns.

just turn them into rocket machine guns. pretty much small rockets fire rapidly with missile velocity. fire rates of 3-4 missiles/sec and deliver a quarter a damage point, each. still uses built-in ammo and cant be reloaded, but with a significantly higher damage potential spread out over time.

Awhile ago, a certain 2 mech team with unusual names would come with 2 javelins loaded up with rockets. they would go out and oneshot some poor slow assault. Then my team were two mechs down. They didn't even stay in the match as distractions, they just overheat died from that one alpha.
It can hurt matches, certainly.

I don't know when the last time was I've seen anybody run RLs, let alone a RL boat. Its literally a non issue. In fact I have more of an issue with players who immediately run to the forums, complain and make a ruckus and demand major changes just because they got upset the game didn't go the way they'd want it to. That's been a persistent problem over the years.

So 2 guys decided to have a little fun and run RL boat lights. Actually sounds like a blast, I'd do it too. Besides, as fun as it is, it would get really old really fast to wait for MM only to dump RLs and end the match. You won't see this with any sort of frequency.

Grow some skin. People have funky builds, people like to have fun, the game won't always play the way you'd want it too. Even Baradul did if for sh*ts and giggles and he's one of the most decent players around.

Yes exactly, people do want to have fun. The poor sot that meets them is not going to have any fun. their team being 2 mechs down at the very start's fun is also going to be affected.
People do like to goof around but you have no intrinsic rights to affect other's gameplay and fun negatively. That's nothing to do with having "thicker skin" -that's basic respect for others.
Something that seems to be sorely lacking in a few notable names on this forum.

The irony of your argument is that you are defining what does and doesn't constitute fun based on your biased view and expectations of the game. Thus doing exactly what you are claiming them to be doing. Its comically hypocritical and woefully unaware.

It's not my responsibility to facilitate fun for you in the game. Its yours.
