I was thinking that a deployable energy shield would be a nifty new addition to the armaments.
It would function like the rotary cannons
It would take a moment or two to spin up but once deployed it would gradually heat up your mech to the point you shut down.
The more damage it takes the faster it would heat your mech to the point of shut down.
Once it over heats into the red you have to wait till it's completely cooled before you can deploy again.
Also you can't shoot through the shield at your enemies.
This would add some interesting options for battle lances for the larger heavy mechs to act as tanks and such to encourage more team tactics.

I don't know if energy shields exist, but if you ask me if I would like to see them implemented, I would very much like the option!
But considering ONYX and RED REAPER, it would be better if only certain special MECHs can use it, not everyone.

I know right?!! How hard is it to create a button that simply turns the arm to face forwards and hold the shield there. You could program it like a regular weapons fire.

I know some mech games that actually have such feature, like the galahad from war robots...and thats a phonegame...it used be a cool game, now it has such a predatory p2w system, or that nonsense of "upgrade every mech/weapon to level100+", and new mechs totally outclass every mech that came before, it stopped being about skills, and more about who can dish the most cash.
