i dont know why a headshot is required for one of the advent requsets when headshots cant be made unless its pure luck or use of software that only tier ones and tier twos seem to have.

I once killed two Atlas, in one match, in QP, with a 5MPL Kit Fox.

That's not all luck.

It requires looking for opportunities and taking advantage of them. I'm not a head shot hunter, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. In that case I simple hung out with a group of assaults and waited for them to get engaged with other assaults, so they would not be looking at me, so I could take the time to stop, zoom in, and take the shot. It helps that the Atlas has a well defined cockpit kill zone, unlike a lot of mechs.

Frankly I didn't bother trying just for that little of a reward. Your mileage (and level of OCD) may vary...

Just start playing the trial Thunderbolt and aim for the head every time. If you dont hit head, you hit the CT which is good anyway.

Though if your sensitivity is so high you believe high tier players can only achieve one with aimbots, you'll likely have issues hitting one against a standstill Annihilator.

1280x1024 resolution on a 1920x1080 display, also lets you focus components better because it stretches everything horizontally.

Sensitivity 0.20, Smooth 0, acceleration 0,

Yeah, it's not impossible. I'm a horrible shot and still managed to get that headshot in a previous event. Ran around the map hunting damaged light/medium mechs in my Wolfhound and intentionally aimed pretty high on the targets I found. Took many tries but in the end I capped some poor guy.

So go out there and shoot at some mechs. It's the way to score a headshot.

I actually got my first headshot last weekend. I took Sleipnir out of the stable with heavy gauss- got it with the ERMLs when not paying a lot of attention.

Is it easy? No.
Is it possible with time, effort, and skill? Absolutely.

I do not know if I will get it or not. If you are so overwhelmingly dedicated to it you can load up on builds perfectly suited to pinpoint damage and hold your fire for the best chance at a head shot. It may cause you to be less successful overall, giving up certain hits somewhere for a possible cockpit shot, but you should eventually get it if you learn where to aim and work to do so.

The rewards are nothing worth obsessing over. You get another yellow, which you probably have already, and a mug... whoopie.

Even if you miss the cockpit, you simply hit the CT on the majority of 'Mechs, so the damage is not wasted.

funny I never looked into this headshot challenge, and when I checked it, I already got the headshot, lol.

Then I remember lately I've running high-alpha build using HAG30+ 2 heavy LL + lot ERML, or even HAG40 + heavy lasers, things that have 78 - 90 alpha damage. Probably one of those shot landed as headshot.

So, if you are like me, who have far from perfect aim required by 3xHPPC, just use brute force using high alpha strike.
May luck be with you.

I remember the OP saying this:

So obviously, it is just a pure luck on your side and you are using aimbot anyway. Posted Image

having observed many t1 players i have to say that these players are human aimbots.

Really? I find MWO players slow and clunky, even the best ones. I must have watched too many Quake videos in my day.

Ahah. I used to play Quake something like 20+ years ago, I was a very mediocre player. Now I'm an old smuck and doesn't have half of my old reflexes, I play MWO and I'm "good" Posted Image

I've barely played the game at all the past 4 years. Quit my livestream to focus on my degree and work. Got my BA at the age of 46 (almost 3 years ago.) I pop in here, and a lot of the threads, after 4 years, are the same old gripes. People don't like the matchmaker, people asking for tech support or trying to report bugs (in General Discussion instead of the proper forums/channels), etc.

I'm almost not surprised to see some of the same perpetual whiners, too. Like this thread's OP. Dude used to swear up and down that everyone was cheating. Apparently he still does. This is a guy that in a StreakCrow would engage at near max range against targets that poke in and out of cover. Heh, the highlight is still on my Twitch 8 years later... Wow, 8 years, and he still thinks the problem is everyone else? At least he's consistent.

I like running my Jager when there's headshot challenges. Lots of people like to take their time to aim at me, so it gives me time to hit them with the double heavy gauss.

It's amazing the number of people who don't both checking what their target is even running.

Even the old BoomJager is sufficient.

Hell, sometimes it feels like half the people in the game don't even bother hitting R.

I got my headshot (two actually) in a match using the Heavy Goose Jager.

The stars align sometimes.

Good hunting,
