This morning I listened to a man describing his "poopie" while driving a mech all over the board and anywhere but into the fight
While pick-up games are fun, and there are a lot of cool people there, I really want to find a team of folks who won't tell me about their toilet habits while we play together, unless I ask.
I realize this is a mature game and most of you old-timers don't want to take on rookies, so if it comes to that and there are other rookies and solos out there who want to band together, I am willing to do so. If we can't learn from experienced pilots, let's figure it out together.
Save me from pick-up games.

Not sure if it's an actual unit search but when in doubt...
We need more info in order to help you:
- what kind of unit are you looking for? A friendly casual one, or on the opposite something more sweaty?
- what do you want to do with this unit? Dropping in quick play, or even in faction play (is that thing dead already?), or maybe play competition?
- at what time are you usually playing? Units (except big ones) often have active hours, depending on their main location, where you have the most chance to find other players. For example, there is no point in joining an all American unit if you're European, except if you're mostly playing at night when it's NA peak hours.
Anyway, check this forum for recruitment threads (in FP and competitive sections) and contact team representatives. Imho, it's easier to contact them via Discord, rather than forum PM.

Thank you for the questions epikt.
Probably looking for a unit somewhere in the middle of casual and sweaty. I don't want to have set times to show up every night like clockwork and at the same time am open to a day or so a week of that with other opportunities that can present. Someone said it well to me yesterday - this is not a game to him, it is more of a hobby. I think I am close to that. At the same time I don't see myself ever entering a competition, but who knows?
I want to learn to be a better pilot from this unit. I don't like to lose matches. I especially don't like to lose because everyone is doing their own thing. If we have a plan, we try to execute and fail, that's ok. We learn from it and try to improve.
I am in NA and usually play in the evenings, EST. I also have days that I can play all day.
Thanks for the prompts.

Check out the MWO Comp discord - https://discord.gg/vc28xzHG
No, you don't have to play comp, BUT there are plenty of units posting open invites for new players to join them. Additionally, it's also a good resource for the meta way to build/play mechs. If you're hard against meta, this is not the place for you, but at least you can find units.

My unit, Metal Gyr Squadron (MGSq) is happy to take on newer players and build them up.
There are many others, too, like CDU, FJRD, 2D20, BWC, CWM, BWSS, EYRI, RIMS, 42, etc, and we all kind of work together to guide new players to the right unit. Let me know if you'd like a server invite, and we can help you find your tribe.

We call these "people" potatos.
That's the funny thing with the solo queue. You will almost certainly get 6-10 potatos on your team that do under 200 damage a match and blame you for all the shortcomings.
And then sometimes you hit the RNG MM lottery and they all land on the other team.
Managing your slightly mobile mecha meat shields to try and eek out a victory is the challenge in solo queue. And some games its literally impossible to win, even if you do 2k damage in a medium mech with 11 kills, you'll still be responsible for solo killing that 12th.

The benefit of grouping is less that you get more skill on your side than the effect of reducing your sides chances of getting tater tot teammates by an additional three slots. So the mm only has 8 slots to fill for your side than the 12 of the other. Unless of course you group with other tater tots.
