Any Reason Tag Lasers Can't Be A Toggle?

I'm sure it has been suggested before, but is there any functional reason TAG lasers can't be a toggle on/off rather than a constant trigger hold?

I hate when some "player" with the TAG laser permanently switched "on" follows my 'Mech, showing continually the entire enemy team where exactly I am.
He probably thinks that he is "helping".

Agree with Martian. There are a couple mechs I will actively use TAG on, Howl is a automatic for it :-)
That said I do not like to always have it on. It is a dead give away. You may not see those mechs around the corner but they see your red beam letting them know not just where you are but where you are pointing.
There are times I wish I could leave it on to save having to manually control a fourth weapon group but in the end it is better not to be seen until I want to be seen.

Tip: The tag doesn't need to be on before launch. Agreed it speeds up lock on times but sometimes all you need is a little tracking assist.

i wired up an arduino (one with a atmega32u4, as it has native usb support) to give me a hard tag switch once. it just held 6 down when toggled on. it was terrible.
i used to put tags and streaks in the same group before the tag stopped accelerating lock time, you just held it down and spammed r until the missiles fired. after they removed that feature i stopped using streaks.

Didn't Caps Lock used to work as toggle if you bound it to a firing group? There's many macro programs that you can use to set key behavior, they are usually easy to use and setup so you can bind a key to toggle that way. You can just stop the macro if you're not using that mech or use a key bound to group group 6 or something similar. Macro software can also be used for stuff like not having to click spam low cooldown weapons like UAC2s.

Most mice have macro in their native software and as far as I can recall PGI took the stance that they don't care about macros.

Yea they don't mind, its not really an advantage, more of a quality of life improvement if anything. Most gaming mice do, but your average mouse doesn't.
