Isn't there a way to group all ammunition together in to an "ammo equipment group" for the purposes of implementing ammo quirks? Then you could give a mech a +50% ammo quirk for all weapons, instead of listing each weapon's ammo quirk individually - which frankly is a little ridiculous.

Or, at least allow for ammo quirks to be applied to all ballistic weapons, or all missile weapons. It must be possible, because there is the missile ammo node & the ballistic ammo node in the skill tree, which are applied to those groupings of weapons rather than being applied to each weapon individually.

There are still some mechs with ammo quirks for most weapons, but some weapons are missing. For example the UM-R63 doesn't have an ammo bonus for magshots.

You're not going to be able to load a HMG with AC10 ammo. It's like trying to shove a 20mm tank shell into a .50 cal rifle.

That's not what I'm saying. You would still need the correct type of ammo on the mech for the weapons that it is using.

I'm just saying, PGI should be able to group ammunition types together for the purposes of applying quirks. The way it works right now is very strange - a mech with an ammo quirk will have about 50 different quirks listed, when it could have just been 1 quirk that says "+50% ammo for all weapons".

Ahh I see what you mean. But I think how they are doing it right now is in regards to the ammo's weight. You can load tons and half tons. The extra ammo quirks are like adding for example an extra 10% of the ammo's weight to the ton or half ton your adding which depending on the ammo size and type determines how much ammo is added.

Yeah but like I said, the UM-R63 gets ammo quirks for almost all ballistic weapons, but nothing for the magshot. I think it's just an oversight because magshot is a relatively new weapon. They should be able to improve the system.
