MECHWARRIOR ONLINE LEGENDS
JAUARY PATCH NOTES

Patch Date and Time - January 21st 2024 @ 10AM - 1PM PACIFIC

Version Number: v1.4.305
Size: 80 MB

Please note that due to compression differences Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

Greetings MechWarriors!

Happy New Year! This month’s update includes a new booster pack, weapon adjustments, 'mech adjustments, quirk adjustments, bug and map fixes, and more!
As always, a 2 week in-game Patch Science Sale will go live shortly after the patch and include all applicable items for testing.
'Mechs in-game and new 'mechs releasing are subject to future balance changes and tuning, so get out there and do the science so we can hear your feedback!

We also just posted an MWO Community Update you can read.
And now, on to the patch notes!

-The MechWarrior Online Team

WOLF DRAGOONS BOOSTER PACK

Clan Nightstar NSR-9J-C(S)

Clan Stalker STK-3F-C(S)

Removed the cursor from Luthien voting screen images.
Updated Luthien out of bounds markers in multiple parts of the map to more closely follow mini map.
Fixed a stuck point on Grim Plexus in G10.
Fixed Luthien waterfall stuck point in A1.
Fixed HPG Manifold stuck point in D5.
Fixed Luthien issue where player could clip their cockpit through the mountains to see through and see mechs on the other side.

NEW 'MECH INFORMATION
As many of you saw in our holiday letter, we announced that our next 'mech was the Fire Moth! While we initially planned and posted that the preorder will be going live in January, we have since decided to put a few more polishing touches on the ‘mech. We will still be releasing the Fire Moth in the February patch, however it will be a direct release on the patch day similar to our legends and booster packs. Starting next week, Tiyos will start posting Fire Moth sneak peeks on the Official Cauldron discord server which can be found at https://discord.gg/BKb7muZZ3Y. For those of you who don’t want to join discord, all of the information posted early there will be included in the February patch notes.

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - TBA
  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

>Bane-4 gets +2 ballistic HSL

>Only has 2 ballistic slots

?????
Can someone elaborate? Like, is that geared for HAG-80 builds? Does it alter the overall heat generated if you increase the HSL?

I am both shocked and dismayed that once again- we have neither rescaled the Black Knight, nor added cERLL HSL+4 to the DWF.

This is specifically to enable 2 HAG40 and 1 ERPPC (gauss/HAG and ERPPC are linked). The HSLs had to be increased separately because 1) HAG40 is only set to 1 and 2) we still wanted to keep the ability to use dual UAC20.

Dire Wolf doesn't need that hsl.

Huh. I'm curious, now that I read the Hunchback notes - why no love for the 4P, which is still at +28 armor? Is it outperforming other variants?

It's Shelly Brubaker's Nightstar
While the Archer belongs to Jaime Wolf (hopefully, we'll get the regular ARC-2W-C at a later date/patch) and Stalker belongs to J. Elliot Jamison as for the Flea I have no idea. It's a WD variant that's for sure.

Good patch and thanks so much for the constant updates...

"VND-5L:[color=#00FFFF]
  • Reduced heat to -5% (from -15%)
  • Reduced Jump jet initial thrust to 50% (from 100%
Yeah about time the OP Vindicator was nerfed haha .....Why? Am I missing something but can't really say I have seen many VIndicators dominating the battlefield.

It's the loyalty one, and the people playing it well were doing huge numbers. It was an outlier bring reined in a bit.

Ulzanna Whitehead, who piloted a Flea-16. Because she retired in 3039, we sort of “homebrew” this one with Clan tech though certain lore inspirations like no MASC were kept. It fills a gap in the Clan mech lineup as there are no 20-tonners (until the Fire Moth comes along) that have energy/missile combo hardpoints. Even after the FM comes out, it’s hallmark will be speed while this one gives you flexibility in being a battlemech.

You are correct; the other mechs do below to Wolf, Jamison, and Brubaker.

It's on a list I suppose, though IMO we should take it easy with tech base conversions. The Dragoons pack was a coherent theme which made sense. Balancing IS vs Clan of the same base chassis is also difficult. The IS BLR-1G and 2C are already strong laser boats so what does the Red Corsair bring aside from another assault laser boat? On the Clan side we have the MAD IIC and MAD IIC-2 at 85 tons as well. The 85 ton bracket in general is quite crowded.

Thank goodness, that is exactly what MWO was missing ... another multi-Gauss/ERPPC assault mech to sit in the back and punish from 2k. /s
