The MLX-G, both compared to other Mist Lynx variants, and other Clan mechs with similar hardpoint layouts, is utterly shafted for decent quirks.

Using all MLX-G Omnipods, you get 5% reduced cooldown and duration on ER lasers and ER lasers only, this saves a grand total of 0.20 seconds between each shot on an ER small laser, this is practically worthless and also irrelevant to the mech's primary use.

The two mechs with the most similarities in hardpoints are the Adder-W and the Viper-F and they at least still get quirks relevant to their ballistic hardpoints,

The ADR-W has 25% more Machine Gun range and 25% less spread, and it has 14 hardpoints compared to the MLX-G's 8.

Meanwhile the VPR-F gets a lot more ammo for Medium and Light MGs (which is ironic because its default loadout uses HMGs, which don't benefit from its quirks, but I digress.) and it also has 8 ballistic hardpoints.

A lot of Clam mechs have meh So8 quirks. Are you able to get better results using other omnipods?

I think he means the wonky JJ animation on some mechs when you repeatedly hit the JJ key that makes them much harder to hit.

Huh, didn't know about that, unfortunate.

You see my point though, right?

Not seeing the issue? Loads of armor and structure quirks and the weapons loadout hardly needs any quirks for its role of jumpy knife fighter?

Except the MLX-G has the weakest armor quirks of every Mist Lynx variant though? I'm not even asking for those to be buffed, just for more relevant firepower quirks than a pathetic bonus to ER lasers.

IIRC a few years back, the cauldron overbuffed the hmg lynx. It was a pretty evil mech so they brought the quirks back in line, and I don't think it has been touched since.

When we give So8 quirks, the primary purpose is to give compensation quirks for an unoptimal hardpoint layout. An example is the EXE-C(I think that’s the one with 100% jam chance). Hardpoints so utterly irredeemable on the So8 that it requires something like a -100% jam chance quirk. For mechs that already have an optimal hardpoint layout on the So8 like the MLX-G, we just give a slight amount of favor that isn’t meant to be overwhelming.

The MLX-G is the second strongest configuration of that mech, hence why the quirks are lacking compared to others.

They also balance with tippy top players in mind too. So balance might not be very friendly to non tippy top players. Many of the meta fits only work if you have the skill to apply it.

Thank you for the elaboration Tiy0s, that does make sense, I guess the Mist Lynx's small size gives it some advantage over Viper and Adder, hence the worst quirks despite similar Hardpoints.
