After a particularly heated altercation when I lanced someone's stealth armor enforcer with an SB Gauss + Some form of MLs in the back, and made them especially irate with how I darted in past a Timberwolf with nothing but 2 HAG 20s, I felt it would probably be in good faith to see what actually happens when you shoot at a Firemoth standing perfectly still.
Amidst all the claims of "MECH INVINCIBLE" and "IT DOESNT TAKE DAMAGE WHEN SHUT DOWN", having some form of evidence would be worthwhile to refer back to.
Next match, I was fortunate enough to encounter them again, and offered to stay still while they shot at me to test claims of invincibility.
While that didn't exactly go to plan, with them instead opting to take a flea, and circle my mech throwing SRMs and raking it with SLs as they ran instead of standing still and isolating variables, I did at least get a screenshot of the end result of what the Firemoth looked like.
Naturally this means you can't put pinpoint damage on a location to test it's durability if you're throwing scattering missiles and DoT lasers while you're trying to keep a bead on target while running around yourself, but, it's something.

Obviously Firemoths can take damage. Otherwise we wouldn't be bothering to evade.
It's been said there's a back armor bug where we have more rear armor than should exist, which is fair enough. I do look forward to seeing it appropriately fixed.
But somehow I don't think that's actually going to ease any of these outcries. Just from my own perspective during these fights:
- I'm naturally running twice as fast as an Enforcer with MASC on. With Seismic, after I dart behind a pillar in the lower regions of the swamp, I can then see where you're going based on how quickly the seismic dot is moving, and adjust my trajectory accordingly to get you in the back with 8x Heavy smalls, twice, because you chose to not twist as I approached. Stealth armor does not help you here, nor are the Firemoth's hitboxes a relevant factor in how your CT went from fresh to dead.
- A Timberwolf with HAG 20s, assuming they fire both at once, is doing 4 bursts of 5 per gun. In the same way that we don't expect the entirety of damage from a laser burn to land on a fast small target, you don't expect all of the HAG bullets to land, much less in the same location, especially at close range when the target is waiting for that firing sound before twisting and firing back.
The only strangeness I can attest to in these matches as the Firemoth pilot, is that very early on against the enforcer, I heard what sounded like Gauss impacts before turning to see the enforcer nearby.
I do not know if nearby impacts cause that sound effect, or if it has something to do with the scattershot nature of SB Gauss, but the sound played, and my paper doll registered no damage.
