Hey everyone,

I've finally reached the point in the Lucky Charms event where I can claim a free Hero 'Mech, but I’m struggling to decide which one to pick. Since I don’t own any Hero 'Mechs yet, I want to make this choice count. Some players have suggested grabbing the Atlas Warlord since it’s the most expensive, but I’ve also been considering a Stone Rhino variant. I just don’t know enough about all the Hero options to determine if it's worth it.
What I’m looking for:
  • I want to pick an Assault 'Mech.
  • I currently run:
    • Blood Asp Prime – Gauss w/ ER L
    • Bullshark BSK6 – AC5s & Light PPCs
    • Corsair 7A – Gauss & Medium Pulse
    • Longbow LGB 7V – Large Pulse & Medium Laser
  • As you can see, I tend to prefer mid-to-long-range builds with some sustain, but I don’t currently own a dedicated brawler.
  • I like the appearance of the King Crab and Cyclops, though I don’t know how they hold up in the current meta.
  • I don’t own a Fafnir and have never really played a brawler, but I like variety in my ‘Mech bays.
  • I’m in the last quarter of Tier 3, so experimenting is getting a little harder.
This is more of a "food for thought" post, but I’d appreciate any ideas and suggestions on what Hero ‘Mech might be the best pick for me. Thanks in advance!

sounds to me like the ultraviolet with 8 ac2's or 6 ac5's(little hotter) would be good for you https://mwo.nav-alph...082c03f5_DWF-UV it looks hotter than it actually is you can also just chainfire and still get a good fire rate. Also you can fit the build on another Dire model if you want i personally have mine set on the C Variant for the ecm.

this is just an example build you can swap stuff around as needed dump some ammo if you feel your okay with the amount.... so forth. it's an omni and well do what you like.

I gave the Ultraviolet build a shot, and wow—I was shocked at the sheer DPS, speed, and overall feel of it. Simplistic but ridiculously effective. It just melts. Definitely going high on my list! Thanks for the recommendation.

If you like the ultra violet, try the Aksum (Stone Rhino)(don't know if it's available as a reward though). It's "the same" but with better hardpoints location and jumpjets.

If you want a brawler, instead of the Fafnir, I suggest the Warlord (Atlas). Way better hitboxes and builds.

Other good options I would recommend are the Maul (Warhammer IIC), Alpha (Marauder II), sleipnir (Cyclops), and Sovereign (Executioner)(don't know if it's on the list though)

Whoops yeah the aksum is there sadly the first thing that came to mind though was the Dire-UV... but the Dire-UV is an omni and requires the B side torsos adn UV arms so you can put it on any of the Center torso versions so it's kinda more versitile as far as the head and CT weapons if you want any... the Aksum is a batttlmech so your kinda stuck with what you got though you can change the engine armor and Structure..

I ended up going with the Dire Wolf Ultraviolet, mostly because it was over 9,000 MC in the store and I wasn’t sure when I’d see that deal again. I’ve already experimented with a few builds using different omnipods, which has honestly been part of the fun. Right now I’ve settled on a 6x AC/5 build, leaning into two Prime legs for the extra defense, and it feels solid—just melts things when positioned right.
I did really want a Stone Rhino, and I’ll definitely grab one eventually, but I noticed I was seeing Aksum pop up more often in QP than the UV, so I figured I’d try something a little less common for now. As for the Atlas, I looked at it hard but couldn’t quite feel what makes it stand out compared to other assault options—might come back to it down the line. And the Cyclops—I actually put together a build on the CP-11-A that scratches the “one-eyed tank” itch pretty well, so that is taken care of for now.
