For free events, the most expensive ones you don't have. 100t assaults and work down from there. Warlord.waa my pick as I have everything else in that range.

I like to use the event MC to buy the non-meta ones when they're on sale... But freebies go with the top end.

I love the Blight and you can do some fun stuff with it. Twin RAC5, 3LMG, 2ERML engine, ammo, and DHS is fun to play. I have a second using 2UAC20, 2LMG, and 2ML which is a real beast. https://mwo.nav-alph...3d70ef_MAD-BLGD Put the 2UAC20 in one group set to chain fire and in 4 seconds you dump 80 points of damage at which point you are likely able to dump another 80 in another 4 seconds before stepping back. That doesn't count the LMGs and ML.

Blight is very good, though also currently on sale for MC for another day or two. I would pick it up that way if you have MC to spare. I cannot speak to Mean Baby as I cheerfully detest Annihilators, but I don't really think any half-sanely fitted Annihilator is going to be bad.

You can certainly choose a 'Mech you already own, yes. Some players do so specifically so they can use the same 'Mech more than once in a drop deck for drop deck events. I have considered acquiring a second Scorch a number of times, to have a couple different loadouts at the ready. Dreadnaught's a beast, if you enjoy it and do well with it you can do so, though if you don't do a lot of drop deck play it might be best to try something you don't already have.

Sovereign is objectively the best Dakka for quickplay. Its only negative is if your team is rolling the enemy they are often all dead before you can reach the battle at 48kph.
