As I type I'm downloading Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries Digital Deluxe version.
I'd bought it long ago when I didn't think I'd have internet connection for MWO.

Is Mech 5 Mercs the same company as MWO?

After it is downloaded can I then purchase Ghost Bear Clans/is it a DLC for Mech 5 Mercs?

I'm trying to branch out from my all time favorite MWO and the little elementals caught my fancy!

Yes, MWO and Mercs are the same company. There's another game, Mechwarrior 5 Clans, which is different from Mercs. The Ghost Bear DLC being advertised is for the Clans game.

Clans is more of a linear character-driven story than Mercs. The Elementals will be specific to the Ghost Bear DLC as support units who come with you, as they only show up in cutscenes during base Clans. Clans and the Ghost Bear DLC will have a different story / set of characters from one another.

Mercs has a bunch of Mods though. Tons of Chassis, its own version of the Clan invasion, new equipment, etc.
