So not so long time ago I bought Urbanmech, screwed around with it in mechlab and did that: AM::20D0|4d|HP|PGp?0|i^q?0|i^rD0|i^sD0|[@|i^tG0|PGuG0|PGvB0|GPw@08080

But - I'm not sure whether it's a ****** build, or ****** me, but it doesn't seem to help me be helpful in anything.

P.S English is not my native language, so there might be typos or stuff.
P.S.S I'm a new player with around 250 hours.

Hello SomeGuy08,

The GrimMech's website has good builds for that Urbie of yours.

First, few general remarks about your build that could help you with other mechs as well:
- the armor allocation is pretty bad. First, you have too much back armor, you want your enemy in front of you and your armor between you and them - as for backstabs, work on your situational awareness. 5 points of armor is plenty enough to begin with (you'll lower it further in the future). Second, on light mechs legs are a major weakness and thus a target, always max out the leg armor. Third, max the armor on all vital locations, except maybe the head (it's rarely hit on an Urbi)
- the DHS allocation is kind of weird - I mean the one on the left arm. Ideally, you want that arm destroyed before anything else, and not lose any component. Also, an arm without any component could allow you to shave some armor on that part to add on more vital locations.
=> here is a optimized build.
I shaved left arm armor, maxed the armor everywhere else except few points on the head, removed the jumpjets from the legs to place them in the torso (then if one leg is destroyed you still can jump at full capacity)...

Still, I personally don't like this build (I don't like MRMs mostly...) and since it won't drastically change how it plays you probably won't either.
Actually, I don't like this Urbanmech variant because of those missile hardpoints. Yet, we'll try to use them because, well, if we don't we'd better use another variant.
You can pick one of the Grimmechs builds, with SRMs.
Or I give you 2 other builds, based on classic PPCs loadouts, but with a rocket backup (I like rockets, they're fun). First double snubs, or triple light PPCs (That's how I built mine).

Hope that help.

the biggest problem i personalty see with your build OP is a low ammo count. seeing as your build has only the one weapon system and its ammo dependent you will need enough ammo to get you through the fight. (one of the reasons i usually do some kind of energy back-up but thats a personal thing). i would also get that ammo out of the CT. if not for the extra weight i would go with 2 MRM-20s instead of the 40 but given we are dealing an Urbie here you are weight strapped.

keeping things as close to your build as possible i would personally remove one JJ and move the DHSs in the arms to the side torsos. then you can strip the armor from the empty arm and have enough room for an extra ton of ammo (though a half ton would work fine and give you more extra tonnage for armor.). that should at least give you enough ammo to get through a match. all you have to do then is some armor shifting and you should be good.

here is what i ended up with for ya (armor can be shifted easily enough if you want the more meta route)

AM::20Q0|4dpE0|i^|i^qE0|i^|i^r00sD0|[@tJ0|PGuJ0|PG|GPvB0|GPw707070

(its an R68 so might as well make use of those missile slots and quirks)

Urbies are the only lights i play and the R68 is i think 3rd on my list. (first is my R63 and second is the K9) that said here is my current build for it (i am always fiddling with **** so it often changes).

UM-R68 (1 MRM-30 (2t ammo), 3 ER SLs, running a LE-170, with 4 DHS, Endo,and LFF)

AM::20Q0|<gpE0|i^|i^qE0|i^|i^|E@rD0|E@|E@sD0|Z@tB0uB0|GP|GPv>0w707070

(the legs have been stripped a bit something not generally a good idea with a light but i have rarely had issue with it. i often loose a side torso long before a leg. i have toyed with the idea of putting in an XL engine so i can add JJs and some leg armor but i just find IS XLs not worth the risk on anything but an LRM boat)

personally i tend towards fun over total optimization when it comes to builds. as long as a build works for you and you can do well with it then go for it i say.

keep in mind that Urbies generally don't play the same way that most other lights do. they are on the slower side if you want any kind of firepower. my go to tactic with them is to pick one or two Assaults and act as support for them, keeping them safe from other lights while adding to their firepower when on the attack. Urbies play more like small medium mechs than lights most of the time.
