I've been gone from the game a long time, since 2020 it seems. I popped in here and there but nothing much. I noticed matchmaking and tier system has changed, but really am just not understanding how. It seems that if you want to play with better players you can only accomplish that by always playing the best mechs. I don't want to always play the mechs that give me the most dmg. Because of this, I have to play with inexperienced players a lot. I liked it the way it was, where players tiered up bases on game experience, not by try harding. Now, to decide if I want to play with assaults for the next idk how many games to tier up, or continue to get shot in the back and watch my teammates suicide into the enemy. After I've died and watching some of these guys as spectator removes any doubt on their experience level. I shouldn't be in the same matches as these guys, it's crazy.

The problem was it's not because a player is playing for years that they're any good at the game. We won't name and shame here, but we all know "veterans" with founder badge that suck hard. Good for them if they have fun, but as much as possible they should not be in the same match than "effective" players, even if they're only playing for a few months.
Let's be honest, the old system was just an XP bar almost only going up, and it was in no way a good metric for skill.
Also don't be fooled, even in tier 1 games you'll meet clueless players of whom you'd think "I shouldn't be in the same matches as these guys" (ihmo that's a bit condescending on your part, but let's not talk about that).
I have a question though: what are the mechs you'd want to play that don't give you the most damage?
The mechlab is part of the game, and if they're are players that are bad at positioning, situation awareness, aim,... there are also players bad at building mechs. Why don't you deserve to play in low tier games because your build suck? Be it willingly or not (since you're choosing to drop in ineffective mechs), at least on some aspects you're playing the game badly and you're not contributing to your team.
To be honest, I'm actually puzzled by your post because to me it does not make sense.
You're struggling dealing damage, getting kills and winning matches in low tier matches, and somehow you think it would be better in higher tiers? You'd only get stomp harder.
I'm not in your shoes, but if I wanted to play with all kind of mechs that are fun but not that effective, I would be happy to play with weaker players along whom I could experiment without being a detriment to my team.

Thank you for your response, I learned a lot from your reply. I didn't realize I was being a little condescending. Thank you for pointing that out and being gracious enough to allow me not to talk about it. I don't mind though, talking about it that is. So what I meant was, I watched then fire lasers at the ground instead of the mech 75 away from them. Miss 10 out of 10 PPC shots at nearly pointblank range. These people just downloaded the game.....10 min ago, that was my guess.
I also learned I struggle to do damage, I didn't realize that. I mean some games I only get 250 and two kills and the matchmaking give me a red arrow. Other times I do 1400 and I go WAY up in the matchmaking thing. I just had a game today where I only got 24dmg. Luckily we won the game because while I sat in the circle, the entire enemy team except one light never so much as entered it. They all died on the A line while I was shooting at a locus. I got a red arrow for that. (It was domination btw)
I know what I need to do, get KDK-3, charge into the enemy and fire, WOW green arrow every time. Yes, I may die stupidly, yes the team may lose because of me. Yet I got a green arrow, tier 1 here I come.
I don't know what it is about forums, but I shouldn't post on them. I get so angry and I'm never to proud of my posts. So after making 3 (edit 14 posts, I don't remember the others.) posts, and being a member since 2017 I retire my posing handle. I won't be back to read any responses. I only stopped by because I came to the website to spend money.
Now that.......was a little condescending.

Waouh... way to be passive aggressive instead of engaging with the discussion... Anyway, if you're so superior to everybody, good for you, and maybe I can be less diplomatic in my reply.
I had a look at your stats, there's nothing to be proud of.
I guess you don't stay in the circle enough because you barely maintain a 1:1 win/loss ratio, and that's the one important thing in order to gain in rank in the long term.
Your average match score is very mid, not to say low.
And don't say it's because you "only get 250 and two kills" (insinuating you're "efficient"?) because your k/d ratio is pretty bad and your number of kills per match is even worse.
In a word, you're a very mid player in a game where the skill requirement is already kinda low.
The fact is it's fairly easy to reach T1 and maintain the PSR bar at the max, even playing all kinds of mechs.
Don't look for excuses, you just suck.
