Sudden death, today, nobody shooting, no indicator, me just receiving the damage, pure BS losers, going for easy kills, several times, not like previous days, invisible shots, huge damage, no visible shooter, it's all BS. I'm quitting this game; somedays there are a huge amount fo cheaters, like today morning; probably they think, nobody is gonna check, Monday Morning. But I'm done, not my problem, not gonna take it, I have things to do. Too bad, it was a great game, no wonder this game only had 240 players in the lowest hours, 20 mins wait for some players; the graph of the last 10 years, clearly indicates that this game is dying relatively fast now, nobody cares to make it fair, and that's what's really killing it; and 1 of the signs is the huge amount of cheaters, that enter to try to outcheat each other, not gonna part take n the Loser 'Mech Festival. Good riddance

Not sure, but I haven't seen any cheating that I could be sure of, could be your internet is too slow, I used to have alot of misshits because of that, also if you have graphics too high, it can make it worse as well. Not saying there isn't cheaters, but usually if there is you will know for sure.

People regularly say that hit registration is "very bad," but seldom provide proof to back it up. It just becomes a meme of "hit registration errors exist --> I subjectively think that 'mech should have taken more damage --> hit registration errors happen all the time, constantly! Man, hitreg is so bad!" Needs more information than our subjective feelings about it to determine the prevalence of the issue.
As for the OP's experience, if you pay attention in matches, you should notice that sometimes you don't see all of the damage that kills you. This happens primarily with burst-fire and laser weapons and laser burns - that damage already hit the server [your ping] milliseconds ago, and the server seems to cut off the incoming damage and just tells you that you died instead of playing it all out. After all, if you had 150 ping, you died .15 seconds ago; if you have 250 ping, that's a full quarter-second.
Not sure entirely why this occurs; maybe rather than stress the HSR system to play out your ghost actions, it just cuts you off. Or maybe it only happens when your ping is unsteady, or you have packet loss... You'd have to ask someone with more knowledge of the subject, and access to the internal workings of MWO code.
What I am sure of is that this phenomenon is not the "rampant cheating" that our frustrated OP is ranting about on his way to slam the door. Hopefully he calms down and realizes the issue, but once people decide something like this, it's hard to dissuade them - just look at how hard it is to pry someone's fingers off the political Koolaid in any country with divisive politics. =/

MWO's hitreg is absolutely fantastic... Given the age of the game, the complexity of hitboxes compared to other games, the global distribution of players, and the very unfortunate choice of engine. Still, most "hitreg fails" are just convergence being clunky and/or sending a shot through the legs or armpit of a mech.
As for cheating, cheats obviously exist for the game; there've been cases of high profile competitive players being banned for it. However, I've never seen a single clear instance of it despite playing for the entire lifespan of the game (probably because they don't increase the cheater's abilities beyond that of a normal player to nearly the same degree as in typical FPS games.)

i've had a guy take i think it was 4 LbX 20's almost point blank and had friends witness the guy not take the damage he was suppose to.
No hitreg system is perfect, and there's a reason I added all those caveats about MWO's hitreg being good.
Your anecdote, however, sounds like exactly what I'm talking about. The SR-4 and ANH-GZ both have some pretty wide hardpoints that are subject to convergence issues at very close ranges, and the C-LB 20-X is one of the worst offenders in terms of looking like it connected a lot more solidly than it actually did.

Adding more anecdotes to an anecdote does not make your anecdotal evidence any stronger. A story about "this guy, and like, his friends? Yeah, they totally saw it, too, man! It was wild; like four LB-20s and we were all totally sure he didn't take enough damage" isn't enough to "prove" that hitreg isn't functioning, or that cheating is rampant.

op is exaggerating, are there ppl cheating in this game ? yes!! is there a huuuuge amount of cheaters?? reeeeeally? in a game that is "dying"? that's what you want to go for? that's what makes sense? I doubt it.
Also is somebody cheated on me like for example, in a match some weeks ago a clown killed me with a shot to the cockpit , right there at the turn of a corner, like WTH!? I reported them, that's all you one can do...did you even do that?, and expect that PGI follows up and takes action (if that) or you just came here and started winning? yeah sure that will make PGI take you more seriously because why the hell not? right?

Those cockpit shots happen. When I was getting back into the game after an absence year before last, I headshot someone on HPG right at the outset of the fight - first rounds fired in the match. The hilarious thing was that we were both using Thunderbolt 9S ERPPC builds. So it does happen - if you suspect cheating, hit that report button. PGI isn't going to launch an FBI investigation in cooperation with Interpol because of your one report, but if they are cheating, you're not going to be the only one. That's how it works; and PGI does monitor cheating and has done banwaves in the past.
