Can we change the default to have Arm Lock off?

From recent spectating, it seems like it is getting more common to have people getting into higher tier matches and still have Arm Lock on. It is tough to watch them be unable to aim low enough or high enough to hit even through they have arm weapons. There is enough seal clubbing in the soup queue without pilots that tend to take the low ground being unable to shoot up at the people farming them from the high ground.

Go to settings, game setting, check box right at the top. Arm lock can be toggled during a game with the keybind.

The conceept is by default to have arm lock off. Also have a "Hold to Lock" button, as to lock the arms only when needed, and for faster torso twisting. I'm personaly still working on this concept, but, sometiems I get it, otheer times, it's like well!

When twisting, take the arm aim, left or right, hit the arm lock button, and the torso should spin to the arm's aim point.

When firing alpha's, use the hold to lock to fire everything in the same point.

It is a good idea to have an "arms only" weapon group, for shooting up above torso angle, uav's, or down at that pesky light, or over the edge of the cliff.

These are just random thoughts, ya'll have a great day.

honestly i am one of those who tends to leave arm lock on until i need it off. i don't notice any difference in the speed the torso itself spins around with it on or off. of course your arm weapons can be moved faster. sometimes its a mood thing as well. it also depends on the mech and way i have my firing groups set up or where the majority of my weapons are. i believe i have mine set to toggle as well. personally i don't care how another player has their arm-lock set, what matters is if they are having fun with the game or not, in the end that is the true purpose of a game, to have a good time.

also having it on by default i think is more for new player quality of life. for new players it can be a little distracting to try and focus on two sets of crosshairs. having it on by default lets the new players have less to have to concentrate on while getting a handle on the way the game plays. we need as much new player retention features as we can get since the game has such a steep learning curve (even more so with the less than reliable match maker combined with low population)

now i am all for having it as a setting (i think it is just not sure since i haven't even looked at the settings menu in a LONG time). just have it on by default and a single click would turn it to off not a big deal. the real problem is there is nothing about such settings in the tutorial so new players often don't even know about it until someone says something to them. just another reason that the tutorial needs a complete revamp since if i remember right there is nothing about arm lock in it. nothing about a great many things honestly.

Same, I use the toggle on/off instead of the temporary hold button.

one there is a setting for that. i use the toggle myself.

i kind of wish we could set the default in the mechlab on a build by build basis though. i have arms mech and torso mechs and nothing bugs me more than doing the opposite of the build intent because i forgot this detail when i picked my mechs. i have a similar problem with masc mechs that i usually forget its installed and then dont use it.

other build defaults would include whether or not override is enabled, ecm or stealth state, id add weapon doors to the list but they got rid of the half second delay on those.

I prefer it off and just turn it off when I need to. The way the screen moves when the arms are moving gives me a bit of motion sickness. This is the only thing in the world that does it!

i had this problem too but i was running a 750ti at the time. moving up to a 1060 helped a little but it wasn't till i got my 2070 super that it really stopped. now on a 7900xt. its not something i usually get either, only other games had aspect ratio problems, as in games intended for 4:3 monitors on 16:9.
