Long Toms are not coming back, at least not how they existed in FP.

Thumpers we examined for the Bullshark when it was first launched, but there is no weapons class that has a true indirect firing arc nor a way to aim that arc. Again, this gets back to the attributes in each weapons class that is a technical limitation and I've already explained.

I'm not even going to bother with the PPCs again.

What was wrong with wiping out a half of the enemy team with one shot? Posted Image

I can only say that Mektek had them in their mod of MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries and that it was not fun.

That is perfectly okay.

i wouldnt mind having another ppc on the clan side, but there doesnt seem to be anything in lore except maybe the support ppc, which i dont think is a clan weapon. its more of an infantry/battle armor weapon. perhaps call it a micro-ppc, 2 tons 2 damage. but its kind of in the same design space as the ap-gauss. i can imagine it getting somewhat problematic in builds that have both.

The flamer exists and is technically related to plasma weapons anyway. I think I had offered up the idea of turning flamers into something more useful/interesting than a stupid stunlock weapon but given how people hate APG/magshot spam currently, I don't think there'd be much traction with that even if you went with stock numbers (3 heat, 2 damage).

Thumpers weren't that good in Mektek mods (same with long toms), especially compared to many of their other non-canon weapons like assault lasers, their version of the plasma cannon, railgun, arrow IV+artemis, etc.

IMHo i think mektek did atms better splitting them into HE and ER and STD variants instead of smashing them all into one... also Mektek had clan MRms though they were called Streak MRms.

Mektek didn't add Streak MRMs, they already existed prior to that because they were part of the Clan Mech Pack (which worked as far back as Vengeance). Also I do kind of prefer the split up ATMs since it forces you to deal with the shortcomings of each one but it's not as big of a deal and considering MW4 had a 128 weapon limit, I'm pretty sure if they could do what PGI did, they would've.

you know one thing about long toms, it put an end to the pug tendency to camp the gate instead of attacking. i actually kind of liked it because it would get the habitually immobile players moving.

by the end the long tom was so nerfed it was hardly an issue, but people remember when it was a nuke even to this day. i actually kind of miss it.
