Hmmm.... 3 of the 4 mechs being dropped next week have big timed buffed heads..... coming right along after the Black Lanner, and previous Roughneck, Summoner recieved buffs to head armor or structure

This is material fact that the Cauldron has pivoted to choices and designs that frustrate or slow down headshots in game. They are calling the shots on the mech quirks and new drops and there has been a steady flow of head buffing recently.

So what caused this change?

~ Was it people chasing the Guillotine achievement or folks who like the headshot efficency combat making too much of an impact, or having too much fun?

~ Was it the endless carping of "I got one shot just because I stood and stared downrange without moving for 5 full seconds, and that's no fun for me"?

~ Was it videos like Herod's and Orion's showing amazing headshot parades even in tier 1 matches?

~ Was it driven by personality conflict where the Cauldron's most outspoken and constant poster in discord and reddit just didn't like the people who were focusing on head shots? The guy is incredibly heavy handed.

~ Was is just coincidence?

Whatever it is, us lowly forum plebs and QP players will never know because the Cauldron never tell us the whys they only do what they want without ever trying to get a feel for what the dumb yahoos who are financing the servers and staff might like.

Making a massive pivot like this without ever explaining or adivising? Who knows maybe I and others like me would agree if someone bothered to explain... ever. Uh... PGI, you seriously need to put a leash on these guys, I know they are saving you a ton in labor but this kind of stuff? friggen silly and short-sighted.

P.S. honestly I'd buy a dozen drop deck deals today if an official Cauldron member could explain this policy AND why its been implimented on the down low without community input.

Here you have your answer:

The goal isn't soft removal of headshots, the goal is simplifying a laundry list of quirks. It does have the added bonus of extra head and back armor (typically).

That is it.

Few variants out of like a thousand have more head armor, and you're thinking it's a conspiracy against anyone trying to headshot, in a game where headshots are very rare to begin with? They just did a round of Annihilator quirks and gave none of them head armor/structure, and its the easiest mech to headshot in the game.

Game code is old and weird. They might've not been able to leave head out of the full body quirks. Thats it.

Also in the end it is PGI making all the calls, not Cauldron.

I don't think that's really the case and it's actually just general quirks to all slots to make it easier, it takes time to apply stats to each mech and you can look through the game files and see how tedious it is to apply those bonuses.

So.... there was like two years of beefing up long range weaponry and now its a surprise there's a lot of head shots?
