While playing on Grim Plexus, on the opposing force was a steath assassin with a beam laser. He was keeping out of range of my clan er large with full range nodes and firing thru buildings/cover constantly and warping all over the place Is this a server issue or was he deliberately causing lag? We lost the game and he personally took out 4 players who were complaining as well Any clues to how this was accomplished?

Well, cheating is rare but it does happen - as evidenced by past ban waves. I've never seen what you're describing, but the best thing to do is all report him so that PGI can see what's going on. Could be network manipulation, or just being really mobile and using jump jets; you can get rubber-banding off of buildings sometimes. Also, Assassins don't have Beam Lasers, they're exclusively Inner Sphere - what you're describing is probably a DarkDeath with a large Xpulse, or else a Clan 'mech that was misidentified because ECM.

Even if we had any idea how to cheat, it would be against the ToS to reveal it on the forum.
I've never seen anything similar to what you're describing though.

The best thing to do in these situations is to record the game and report it to PGI support by mail.

The beam laser is a clan only weapon the assasin is an inner sphere mech so there is no way it can have a beam lasers there is only one mech i know of that has totally insane laser duration quirks on the inner spehre side and it's the Jenner A

This could be many things. Could be an issue with the game, the server, your PC, cheats/hacks, etc. Best advise has already been given, report the match to PGI and let them do the digging.

I'll leave my comment that I've personally had some very strange moments in this game myself over the years. I one time did 300+ damage to a single mech. Got awarded only a single kill assist. It was the only mech I shot at, and it killed me. The mech in question? It was a light mech... which didn't have 300+ health on it. I... still can't explain how it happened.

I've seen a glitch (I think it's fixed now) where if you have an AC2 and an AC5 shoot at the same time (also happened with PPCs for a while there), only one of the two shots would register damage on the mech, while both would still register damage at end of match screen. Was reproducible too.

So, could it have been a glitch someone knew about on what terrain pieces could be shot through? Maybe. Could it have been some cheat to shoot through terrain? Maybe.

Could it have also be HSR kicking in, and you thought you where behind cover, but HSR backed the shot up from when you were out of cover, thus it didn't really hit terrain? Maybe. Could you have had a piece of your mech sticking out of cover, while your cockpit was behind terrain, making you believe you where being shot through terrain? Maybe.

If in doubt, report the match in game to PGI, report the player in question, and call it a day. If you have the match recorded, you can also submit the video to PGI support to report it there too... I know it's already been said. I just wanted to reaffirm it is all.

(Edit: I should proof read BEFORE submitting my post...)
