Hello everyone, and welcome to... ^_^

"The Crazy Assistance Challenge"

(a.k.a. "Summer Death Marks & Spotters" due to August 2025 thread creation)

(or any other interesting title which PGI wants to call it later on!!!)




This particular design for an Event is targeted around helping people learn (and hopefully benefit from) the use of TAG and/or NARC functions, and how they might be paired in with all of the following...
  • Any of the other various Weaponry which might be mixed with TAG & NARC
  • Various different Mech Weight Classes other than Lights
  • Differing methods of combat used during battle
...so that any Team on the battlefields can be more effective, particularly in helping each other even at longer ranges. I'll admit in advance this incurs altered Time-To-Kill from sacrificing a Damage-dealing Weapon Slot so that one's survival may increase through assistance from their Team during battle. :huh:

That said, among other possible Rewards to be earned, this Event Idea can help everyone earn all of the following Bonuses during actual battles...
  • Savior Kill (because you helped keep a Teammate alive while helping take out an Enemy Mech during that battle)
  • NARC Kill (helped land a Lock-On attack upon Enemy Mechs via NARC usage, resulting in a Kill happening during battle)
  • TAG Damage (helped land a Lock-On attack against Enemy Mechs with TAG usage, resulting in non-Kill but punishing types of Damage happening upon the Opposing Force's elements)
  • TAG Kill (helped land a Lock-On attack against Enemy Mechs with TAG usage, resulting in a Kill while the beam is on-target during that battle)
  • TAG Stealth (successfully managed to TAG an opposing Enemy Mech without being detected during the current fight)
...and I'm left wishing that it was possible for me to remember exact numbers on how much (C-Bills) & 'Mech XP' are earned with each of those right now, but my mind has decided to stupidly draw a blank as I'm typing this. I can only remember however that they're not something to merely laugh off. :)

So we finally come to what I would suggest be implemented for the Challenge Requirements which everyone should meet. Let's try something like...
  • Allowed time for Event's Challenges being done — 19 Days (Probably should make it 21 Days at maximum to be kind and on the safe side... This will provide reasonably enough time for everyone really willing to invest some effort in these Event Challenges and what they actively entail)
  • NARC Kill ——— 2 instances (doing this one will require a bit of effort due to opportunity windows... there is a time limit on how long the NARC lasts before shutting down... also of note, NARCs can be stopped by AMS equipment and may prevent some NARC launch shots from taking effect on targets)
  • TAG Damage — 10 instances (the most easy of everything here, and measured in instances instead of an actual Damage Dealt value to be met... can occur multiple times on one target, should require almost no effort beyond the usual Line-Of-Sight incurred while normally attacking Enemy Mechs during battles)
  • TAG Kill ———– 3 instances (this is the second-most easy, will require minor timing effort as the Kill must happen while a player is holding the TAG on an Enemy Mech target being blown away)
  • TAG Stealth —— 2 instances (doing this one will require the most effort, as a Flanking-related angle must be found to pull this one off)
  • Savior Kill ——— 5 instances (should land up being earned passively, but still worth having a related Challenge anyway for people to feel incentive in doing it)
  • AMS ————–– 750 Missiles (simply because it should not be too easy for the Missiles to hit their targets, even with assistance)
...and there are probably more things which would couple well, but I really can't think of them right now, so I'll leave it at that. At least it's a framework to start with? Plenty can be added alongside if situations call for doing so... :mellow:

Long and short, this particular Event Idea may be something worth using if an "interest spike" is suddenly needed for MWO's environment at any random time. I personally know that if this got implemented, then I would dive into it with full force and enjoy playing. So what do the rest of you in MWO's player base think? And to those in PGI's MWO Staff currently, what are your opinions on the matter? B)
