Hello Mechwarriors,

I need help! It's Beach Party and I can't decide between those 2 mech pack rewards. Here's the problem: I guess I'd be more effective in the Aksum as I had good experiences with the Stone Rhino Chassis in the past, but I don't like small caliber AC builds (especially UAC2's) for a number of reasons.

With the Seraph, it's a different story: I love gauss rifles and energy weapons! I love mechs that can do something unique and additional cool shots seems like a pretty good idea! I'm really gravitating more towards the Seraph, but I'm afraid that most of the builds that come to mind are no longer or less viable after the recent cooling nerf, even with the extra cool shots.

And last but not least, there's the question of which pack gives me more value. Usually it's "take the bigger, more expensive mech", right? Paintjob isn't a factor here, they're both ugly as sin. But what about bolt-ons, warhorns etc.?

My brain says "Aksum", but my heart screams "SERAPH!!!!" What do you guys think, is the Seraph still viable? Is the Aksum so much better that I would regret not picking it, even if I don't like the playstyle?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

On a strict performance factor, there's not even an argument, the Aksum is hugely superior.
So if your selection must be made between those two, only pick the Seraph is you're a Neon Genesis Evangelion fan and want everyone on the server to know that aspect of you Posted Image
(but to respond seriously: the only good point of the Seraph is the 2 additional coolshots, allowing you tu use very hot builds... but the mounts are baaaad)

But you can also choose another legend.
You don't like small ballistics, ok, but what do you think of the Argent? Made to boat UAC/10s, pretty good. The Dreadnought is also very good at AC/10s
Also, since you like gauss+energy, there are the War Emu or the Arges, both better than the Seraph.

Neon Genesis what? No thanks, I don't want to learn about our lord and savior. *shuts the door*
Just kiddin', I know it's some anime, but I'm not into it.

Anyways, thanks for answering. That solidifies my doubts about the Seraph, but now it's even harder to decide. :D
I always dismissed the King Crab as too big with horrible hardpoints, but the Argent doesn't seem too bad! The Dreadnaught also looks fun and I really like Marauders.... Arrrrrrrgh! Decisions! :(

I’ve purchased all of the Legendary Packs, but…

When it comes to value and pure fun, Seraph is hands down the best.

It comes with bold bolt-ons that drastically change its silhouette, a warhorn that sounds like an “angel of cruelty” with BGM straight out of an anime where a boy turns into a legend, and long-range, high-damage builds reminiscent of positron rifles. Even today, it’s still a solid and relevant LEGEND.

On the other hand, AKSUM is the pack for those who want a true P2W experience. It enables strong and reliable builds such as 2x UAC10 + 4x UAC5, UAC5 dakka, or AC10 dakka. It’s backed up by excellent hardpoints and sturdy arm shields.
That said, you can build something similar on other mechs, and its bolt-ons don’t really alter the silhouette. The warhorn is, in my opinion, a letdown. Overall, the value is lower, but the power level is absolutely top tier—that’s what defines the AKSUM pack.

ARGENT is unique as the only King Crab with ECM, and it also consolidates all of its weaponry into the torso, making it a tough and reliable LEGEND. It solves common problems like being shredded by LRM showers during movement or having arms and side torsos easily blown off. Honestly, it’s not the highest-value LEGEND, but if you’re a King Crab fan, this one is a must-buy.

Dreadnought… for me, it feels like “Scorch Mk.2.” It loses some burst power, but with extended range it becomes incredibly strong in head-on fights.
It can carry lots of strike consumables, making it easy to control areas with artillery or finish off wounded targets with airstrikes. The warhorn is also very cool, with bass that rumbles in your chest. Sadly, the bolt-ons are among the worst three of all LEGENDs.

War Emu is a ballistic Stalker, but what really stands out is its absurd toughness. As a 95-ton assault with an efficient silhouette, it was already sturdy, but with Quirks and skills that essentially nullify crits, it reaches a whole new level. Even if you’ve lost a torso, a leg, and most of your armor is gone—this thing can still fight and win. The bolt-ons and warhorn are kind of underwhelming in my view, though the sound is apparently modeled after the call of an actual emu. Honestly, that’s kind of terrifying.
