Is anyone else experiencing delays of up to 3 - 5 minutes waiting for the matchmaker during even peak hours? Is it because of diminishing player base or some other issue?

My main problem is that I always got 5 secs of penalty out of the blue...
No team damage, no TK, no premature quit... Just drop me those penalties after every damn matches (QP + EQ)...

Population is probably lower due to the 3 concurrent reasons below -
1. MW5 Mercs just introduced Clans officially, so a lot of the population is playing that
2. Event Queue was on the last 3 days and is a popular alternate queue
3. CS25 is going on which means compies are prepping/scrimming for that queue as opposed to playing QP

Weird. I'm getting marginally faster mm in t1 recently so it's odd that t5 is taking longer. Not that t1 mm is quick its just been not quite as slow. Posted Image

School is back on, in the 'States. That's part of the seasonal population shifts that MWO goes through.

And... who do you think... takes care of children?

Also, I'm going to ask you for your source on age demographics.

Voip and streamers for the most part. 40 is probably the median age.

based mostly on the general maturity of players in this game compared to other games, the assumed age of streamers and the like. besides the battletech franchise is full of grognards who have been here since table top, though thats more of a 50 something demographic by now. young people play young franchises. hard data is something id like to see, i like to know how accurate my estimates are.

That's what I mean; you might be correct, but remember Sara Parries? There are a number of people who've introduced their kids to Battletech or MWO. I've known people to designate an ally guild for people to put their kids into. The truth is, we don't know the age demographics of the game, and I think it's a mistake to assume that just because those of us who played OG Battletech are... older, now... that there's more people 40-and-over playing than all younger demographics, although I doubt we'll ever know - I'm not even sure PGI collects that data.

But my first question speaks to this point as well, on consideration: grown-ups take care of children. They take them on vacation and (hopefully) push them to go outside when the weather's nice - and when school starts up, they adjust their schedules to allow for that. For some people, that'll mean less time; for others, it's more. Depending on how the game's demographics interact with school schedules, the school days-summer vacation cycle may affect playing time in different ways, depending on whether they're working, etc... In World of Warcraft, I could always tell when school got out - I was Horde on an open PvP server, and the Alliance population would suddenly triple. If MWO's trend is opposite, well - that's an item we can add to the list, though that data point only indicates that the population might be more adult than school-kid.
