Not my video, but imagine what a couple hundred years of technology could bring?
I instantly thought of it beloved PPCs

except the PPC is not a plasma cannon the PPC is a particle projectile cannon. likely fireing charge ions.
nor is the PPC a 'lightning' Gun.
even the guass rifle in Batltech is actually a Coil gun, a simplier magnetic cannon than a Rail gun.

Technically a PPC is like a lightning cannon firing charged and accelerated particles through an ion-channel causing enormous heat and penetrating power on impact. Build such a thing is not impossible but most probably would blow into one's face since it need a containment field to handle the extreme heat.
Gauss in BT is coil-based? I thought it uses rails to accelerate as that is easier to built and maintain then re-coil something. But I would suggest that consider BT gauss more like a mixture of both. Since electromagnetically accelerated are it's projectiles a gauss-weapon also should (would) create a c**tload of heat upon firing, literally melt the projectile when it lefts the barrel.
As for the video... That ain't a lorentz-plasma? It is much alike like a PPC but with less range. An imperfect lightning cannon what superheats particles but less accelerates them. Long time since I dived into physics, guys, sorry. I am more interested in black holes and how they could bend time and space because they could be excellent inter-system, sub-light drives for spaceships (but unfitting for starships being sub-light engines).

The linked video is a mega taser that uses a dart to unspool a conductive wire. When the dart hits something the connection is made and the lorentz force effect allows for a much higher transfer of energy to the contact point before the wire is obliterated. This is not a ppc.
