i think it's a physics engine problem and may be beyond the current teams ability...

You have to shoot your rocket at the ground while you jump, so the splash will push you in the air.
Like in Quake (that's why it was a good idea to try this in an Hellspawn, the more hellish and demonic you are the higher the boost)

Haha, now I'm looking forward to see people test this live in QP...

I think you are talking about what will happen sometimes with a Mech that has Jump jets equipped where you are jumping and kinda glide up the side of something and you seem to float higher and higher even when the JJs are not engaged. Causes a lot of leg damage when you finally land.

Nothing much can be done about it and it is a bug sadly.

Hilarious as people trying to blow off their own legs with rockets would be, this is a 'Sproing' glitch where some unusual and difficult-to-reproduce, essentially random, combination of jump jet inputs and collision with map geometry causes your 'Mech to soar a billion miles into the air. You become a free target for enemy trap shooters, and you lose significant leg armor at the bottom of the jump because you fell for a billion miles.

Nobody has any clue what causes it, it's not common at all, and the two and a half people still working on MWO do not have any ability to dig into the engine and nix it. Prognosis for time-to-fix: sometime in the forty-first millennium.

Hum... we perfectly know how to reproduce it, you just need to clip your legs on the edge of a structure while you jump (we even can use it to make the Apache and Spectre "jump"). It's really easy to reproduce on mechs with a lot of JJs like the Viper or Mist Lynx.

This is a collision mesh / physics engine issue. Not new, and at this point in the game's life, not really solvable.

I remember bringing this up internally back when it might have been solvable. QA looked into it, and it wasn't consistent or reproducible, so the ticket got closed for those reasons. Sometimes you can know a bug is there, but not have enough information to even begin to understand and solve a problem.

Can you go into the Testing Grounds and reproduce it for us a few times? You seem to know how, so it would be a big help.
