[Duke Falcon]

Greetings!

I recently thought I may buy a hero Gausszilla for MC. And I came up with this particular build:

Group1: HAG30+40
Group2: 2xHAG20s
Group3: ER L-laser

I plan to use this in QP as it really lacks ammo for any sane FP matches. Maybe for EQ (Solaris?)... Would this be a good mech for a bad T3 pilot?

Why not try something more simple? Your build seems overburdened on heat and understocked on ammo.

Did you ever used 2700 worth of damage? and, more importantly, do you think it will happen often enough to justify the tonnage?

Less ammo (still 2000+) and little less speed but an ERLLas for better dps and zombie capability.

That's 2.9 minutes of combat before skills - including ammo and cooldown. It's really not outside the realm of possibility.

Not outside the realm of possibility, but pretty rare in actual situation - rare enough for the ammo tonnage not being worth it in my opinion.

That's not a crazy proposition - my own Gauszilla has an ERLL. However, I find myself not using it too much - it doesn't mesh well with the Gauss Rifles if you have to lead, interferes with spreading return fire, and of course lasers point both ways. All those factors affect the opportunity costs of loading more ammo, and more ammo protects you from crits while ensuring that you still have boom to dish out if you lose half your 'mech. For your linked build, I'd probably swap out an additional half-ton of ammo for a full engine and a plasma cannon.

If I start playing the Gauszilla regularly, I'll likely ditch the ERLL for a smaller backup weapon and just focus on leading people with the Gauss Rifles.

I tried this HAGboat. My Gauszilla is skilled toward AC10s so it were a bit hot but manageable. It slow enough to grant you enough time to cool down when repositioning < in this build you must reposition after fired all your HAGs otherwise you'll die.

LAMS... They not yield extra score anymore? I missed something?
Anyway, in my tier it's still help evade some unwanted rain.

My experience:
HAG30+40 ghost heat is not a big deal until you keep mobile. Most Anni I see plays turret but that's their problem...
HAG20s in the arms... Need to much extra time to expose then fall back.
ER-LL is seems to much face time in a barn... Maybe a plasma would be a better option...
This build, despite max engine, would not win races. Need a competent team or a few better player whom could fend off lights. Not a solo-build but I not yet tested it in group-drop...

Not better nor worse than most Anni builds. But what may one expect piloting a walking barn, right?

No idea about the score they give, I believe they don't give score but cbills, but actually I don't care.
I also don't have much grievance against the AMS part, a Gausszilla can afford to "lose" 1 or 2 tons for an AMS and if you think it helps good for you.

It's the "laser" I don't like.
You say the mech is a bit hot, why the heck would you mount an equipment increasing heat generation and limiting your damage output?
99% of the time (if you built you mech with standard gauss I would not mind the LAMS) laser AMS is a noob trap, and a dead giveaway you're seeing a bad build.

There are many better 'mechs to run HAGs on. The Gauszilla specifically excels at Standard Gauss Rifles, and using any workable combination of HAGs actually reduce your DPS - while giving you an Alpha till Overheat that's comparable to energy builds. Meanwhile, if you use the quirks Blake gave you, Standard Gauss Rifles have to Add an Energy Weapon just to be able to overheat, and do more DPS without crippling yourself for speed.

Gauszilla can also do evil things with standard dakka - literally just because it is an Annhiliator - but if you're using Gauss Weaponry, go Standard Gauss. HAGs on the Gauszilla are for the mathematically challenged.

PS:, the Annihilator is not a "barn." It's tall, and it's 100-ton big, but 'Mechs like the Awesome and Battlemaster are offended right now. Annihilators are functionally the opposite of a barn, with a boat-like torso architecture that makes them very difficult to kill efficiently. The 'mech is generally harder to kill, in practice, than an Atlas. Let that sink in for a little bit.

Usually. But usually there just not enough crit slots for an AMS + ammo combo. And you can turn off the LAMS when you not need it (hide in cover and cool down).

My Gauszilla originally runs with 5xAC10s with some laser backup. It's a damn executioner. But the HAG-boat interested me since a while. And I dislike normal Gauss because hold the mouse button to charge destroy my aim (shaking hands). If there would be an "auto" charge for them maybe. For HAG at least some of the projectiles would hit.

Let us be frank: Almost all IS assaults are walking barns on my tier level or below. Better players sure know how to Anni'ing-around instead of stand and play turret with them. But a Gargoyle with ER-Mlasers + SRM6s could make a short work on both the Anni and the Atlas with good positioning <= Positioning, something what is a "skill lacking badly" sometimes.

I not an Atlas fan. I has a won one and a picky-prize Warlord. Not even touched them since skilled them (hope they also not touched themselves)...

Next test idea: All-SRMs Bane!

It's not about how slow it is, or how much people reposition - it's the profile. Almost any 'mech will take out an Assault if the victim's in a bad position - but if we don't assume there's a skill deficit or terrain advantage, nobody wants to go toe to toe with a properly-built Warlord at SRM range. Just like nobody wants to trade with an Annihilator; even if you win, you won't have much 'mech left if the other guy has your level of skill.

The Gausszilla loves standard Gauss. It's just "meh' with HAGs. If you want to boat HAG/40s and do evil in the sight of heaven, you're looking at the Bane-2. Muahahahaha. Haha. Ha.

Grr, no, it's dual HAG/40, with triple UAC/5s. It's a brutal build, and you should try it - mine is actually set up with 4 UAC/2s, though this gives me less ammo, so it may be insufficient for long fights.

I copied the build code rather than the link from MechDB. It's fixed now.
