I've been seeing a spate of frustrated "I'm quitting!" posts from people who seem to be legitimately new players. One of the things they say is that not being able to talk hamstrings their ability to ask for help and learn from other players.

If memory serves, this limitation would date back to the campaign of harassment waged by certain... angry ragebabies "Concerned Mechwarriors," who would harass new players in an attempt to hurt the game because they didn't get their way. Can we do away with this particular limitation? I don't think we need it any longer, and it seems to be hurting far more than it helps.
