Hi, after playing the game, I felt the game need some changes to reflect the real mercenary experience that has been hashed out in the original battletech universe when it comes to mercenary striking out a career.
First of all, having Mason equipped with a Dropship and a few mechs, then a jumpship at the start of the game is just half cheating already.
What it should have been is Mason starts with working for an established Mercenary organization then save his way up to then owned his own Merc units, after a dropship and later a jumpship.
The game allow Mason and team to select their own merry way to go anywhere in the Inner Sphere. Is that realistic? I mean the house lords hate each other, why would they give Mason free rein to jump into a hostile system and not get blasted into space dust?
It should have been Mason and team are based in one of the Planets open to hire mercenaries with a hiring hall. Mason choose his contract through the hiring halls by approaching different employers. Merc planets are Galatia, Northwind and etc.
He hires mech pilots in bars, buy all equipment and mechs through the dealers in Merc planets.
Cold storage Mechs can only be stored in merc planets.
After picking a mission and choosing the mechs, Mason need to hire jumpship and dropship to get to his destination unless employers provide them. Mission can be garrison duty for months with him staying on planet until random raids popup or not at all. Garrison missions also offer bonus side missions he can take to smash the enemy.
Wolcott is a good example. Like the Novel D.R.T
Mason can also get bank loans from comstar to expand his unit and pay back the interest from the loan.
Mason can't jump one planet to another as he pleased unless he purchased his own jumpship
in the late game.
