Don't know if this have been discut before:
One ton of ammo take one slot.
Half ton of ammo take also one slot.
It could be interresting if we can merge two differents type of half ammo in one slot.

" The ammo bin is routed specifically to the designated guns in your mech before launching. This is so that you don't have a catastrophic instance where your LRM ammo accidentally gets fed into your MGs and causes a horrific jam of the entire system, all because someone wanted to put different types of ammo in the same box, that specifically says Use only AC20 ammo in this AC20 box.
I'm not going to put my neck on the line as your tech for your drunken, sleep deprived ideas on a whim. It's my job on the line if something goes wrong and it can be proved I did it, knowing full well it's stupid."
Or something like that, would probably be the justification as to "Why not tho".
Don't munchkin for the sake of munchkining man.

“Insults are the argument of the weak-minded.”
Besides, you can't even talk about arguments since you're confusing slots, boxes, and free space.

Grey didn't confused anything, they just gave you a flavorful response from a lore mechtech perspective, probably because they don't care much about your suggestion.
I don't care much either. I'm not even sure if I find it would be good for the game or not.
All I know is if PGI had some developing power assigned to this game (and that's a big "if") there would be much pressing issues to be addressed.
