It is! Reasons have been stated a bazillion times here on the forums.
On Topic: I'd say it's either something jumpcapable: Victor/Highlander or some "iconic" Mech like the Zeus. Or (as it's been with the last few revealed Mechs) someting noone has on his scope.

Cause, you know, both the Awesome and the Atlas don't ALREADY HAVE THAT. Seriously, the prime Awesome variant has nothing but three PPCs and a small laser. If that doesn't say "long range engagements," then...

So:
Look at available mechs
Whats the tonnage?
How many variants does it have that are useful/feasible?
How does the mech look, does it look distinctly different from the other mechs in the game?
How easy is this design to implement into MWO?
Profit

Just saying.
It gives us several things that have not been introduced yet in the assault category.
1.) A jump capable assault 'mech.
2.) An assault 'mech with a ballistic hardpoint (or two) in the arm capable of supporting a large bore ballistic weapon. (Gauss, AC 10)
3.) Style.
I would also settle for a victor, and would happily pilot it, while I continue to wait for my Highlander to arrive....
Just my thoughts. <S>

But just so everyone has an idea of what to possibly expect, here is a list of ALL of the Assault mechs from the 3039 Technical readout (the only one prior to 3050)
I'm not putting down any variants, just base names, and I'll put asterisks next to mechs already in the game.
Starting with standard mechs!
Awesome*
Charger
Victor
Zeus
Stalker*
Cyclops
Banshee
Atlas*
Then we have First in Centuries!
Hatamoto-Chi
Daboku (Pre-Mauler)
Then Star League!
Thug
Highlander
King Crab
And finally, Unseen/Phoenix Project (which are unlikely to show, for now)
Goliath
Battlemaster
Longbow
Marauder II
I want to see a Hatamoto-Chi, personally

It would be nice to have an assault with jumpies.

Warhammer
Marauder
Shadowhawk
I really don't care for the ridiculous licensing BS that always gets in the way of great things...

Personally: here's my list I'm expecting
Zeus, Victor, or Highlander (pick one) Are the likely assaults at this point. I personally like the Victor or Highlander, Zeus is a little too... well... it's the Zeus
For heavies, I'd like the Black Knight and Orion, with (in the HOPEFULLY un/reseen category) the Warhammer and Marauder being high on the list. Figure, if they can get the rights, they'll put the Warhammer in ASAP considering it was what they put in the reveal trailer. It would also probably replace the Black Knight at that point too, considering their similar armaments.
If I recall, Shadow Hawk's a reseen, so it might be up.
Blackjack would be a good choice.
And, I don't think it was out during this time period, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE to see an Uziel (Second favorite mech behind Cauldron Born/Ebon Jaguar)
In the light category... Wolfhound maybe? We kind of have all we need there: we have the versatile speedster (Jenner), the stealth unit (Raven), the rank-and-file (Commando), and the blur-fast speedster (Spider). I put down the Wolfy because it's a bit heavier-hitting. All that's really missing is something 20-tons, like the Locust if it's not still an unseen.

Besides the fact they're unique, Capellan army surely has a lot of them.
