After barely making it out of the cadet missions and finally able to ask for help from other players, it has come to my attention that a good percentage of other team mates consider me a liability, so in light of this instead of being a wasted mech on the battlefield, I am suspending my MWO career and allowing other players to take my place on the teams I would have been assigned to. Just not the game for me, perhaps in the future I'll give it another go

Well, you played 26 games in December and 70 games in January. That is not much.
MWO has a steep learning curve in some aspects, so it is natural you are making some mistakes.
The most important thing is to ask yourself a question "What did I wrong in the last game? Is there something I could have avoided?" and deploy in the next mission with the determination of not repeating the same mistake again.
As for what your team mates are saying: Ignore them. Many of them are even worse players than you are. Just concentrate on your performance.

this game can be brutal to get good at. the learning curve is steep. only way to get better is play a bunch. stick with the group. focus fire and try not to be a target. Pug life ( solo player/Quick play) is such a mixed bag. one game you get a good group with a good shot caller and you are gods! next 100 games you are 1 shotted in the first 2 min. it takes time to learn the maps, the mechs, the tactics, let alone piloting and shooting on the move.
on the salty players. stop listening, start watching the good ones. learn from yours and other peoples mistakes. and what ever you do don't run an LRM locust till you can laugh at all the salt..... lol
