Sarna.net is the battletech wiki. You could use is to help flesh out back story or look up vehicle/mech/tech descriptions and images while you read some of the novels.

Good luck finding a copy of the Sword and the Dagger for cheap cheap.

I have been hoping beyond hope that they will republish all this stuff so I can purchase the series (up to the dark ages) and have them all match nice and neat on my bookshelf like all my Star Wars, Dragon Lance etc. etc. books. Right now my Battletech books (aside from the Blood of Kerensky) are all missmatched publications.

Yep, call me OCD.

Thank you for all the contributions. There is so much lore that in the books its easy to get lost when they start talking about various Houses, factions, merc groups. people, places  just the MW lingo in general really :D but a refresher will do me some good to keep house styles/personalities in mind so I can keep my loyalties appropriate :D thank you again.

They should gather everything up and sell all those novels on a digital platform.

Im currently working my way through as many as i can 65 of them on my ebook reader. Like some one already said start at the beginning Decision at thunder rift is brilliant as well as the rest of the Gray Death Leigon saga also i would recoment Wolfs on the border another very good read and if u want to get into the mood of what going to be happening and what the IS is like when the game launches then read Leathal Heratiage which is the beginning of the clan invasions. If you want more clan stuff though Bloodname would be a good place to start.

I'm still in the dark ages (no pun intended) with my reading as I prefer tactile interface with my books. Plus I can take it into the tub after a hard day of fighting fires and saving kitties in trees etc. Can't really do that with an expensive eReader.

You could take it into the bath with you but just have to be carefull they not tht expensive atm i got mine for around £80. I have to agree with you their though i do love the feeling of a book in my hand and especialy that new book smell. but having the ability to take a small library with me when im going out places and it fits in my pocket (only just) its very convinient.

Ye of little imagination.

That's what those shrink wrap machines are for. Or even a Ziplock.

And I totally feel you on the OCD "must have all the books/series in the same format/publication!!" I get the same way.

The usual video game hypocrisy silliness.

Drop all the A-bombs you want, but F-bombs are a no-no.

Show me in the bible where it says I can't curse. (And those of you about to mention the 3rd commandment, go google what it REALLY means first).

man in a diner overhears an obvious mechwarrior talk to his companion about being with the 1st Jaguar Guards on Albiero.

man says to the Mechwarrior, "excuse me, I couldn't help but overhear you, are you a Clan Smoke Jaguar mechwarrior?"

The Mechwarrior looks at the man and says proudly, "Why yes, I am."

To which the man asks, "How many babies did you kill?"

The Smoke Jaguar looks thoughtfully before he replies, "Never more than I could eat."

The Clan-oriented player base is all about the RP aspect so asking them to lay off the superiority complex is just plain foolish. It just makes them more determined to destroy you. Because tears of failure are delicious

Bah, if people want to forum-RP, I've got no problem with it, and if they want to think there's some inherent superiority to clan society and/or a master-race quality to the so-called "trueborn" Clan Warrior (because that's not remotely demeaning to everyone else or anything...), then they can be free to their opinion, as free as others are to dispute that opinion.

Besides, what's more at the heart of this franchise, especially in this time period, than Clan/IS disagreement and bickering (if really nasty bickering, involving thousands of multi-ton battlemechs  )? If our new guys didn't understand just how deep that divide between those two societies ran before, they sure do now! :)

Fastest way to educate a clanner on the folly of his or her arrogance is the view of an autocannon bore right before it blows out their cockpit. It could have been avoided if they had learned the one thing their mad founder Nicholas Kerensky didn't teach them, humility. But what Kerensky did not teach them, The Sword and Shield of The Dragon can provide them needed instruction in.
