Oh damn, looks like no hd 6950 for me, just took a look at my PSU (Modecom Premium 530 W), and it has only got one 6-pin connector, well, looks like HD 7770 or GTX 550 are the way to go then (i'd rather not get a new PSU now)
So I not familiar with you power supply so this may not be a viable option. But the power connecters on a powerfully don't always represent what the supplies is capable of there more of a certification standard. You can get converter to convert 6pin pcie to an 8 pin pcie connecter. But you have to be very sure your power supply can handle it. Since it not a good idea to over tax a power supply since some brands do not fail gracefully. I have also seen the very high end cards explicitly recommend agents this as well as well because 2 Molex connecters to an 8pin connecter is not as electrically safe. Since you don’t have as many wires caring the 12 volt rail and as such there not rated to carry a much power as a true 8pin connecter. So I would only really trust a 6pin to 8pin converter for high end cards.
In my case I have a high end seasonic power supply 700w single rail and it was made before 8pin pcie connecters were required. So I just had to use an adapter. Since there no way I would replace that power supply before it time. Power supplies can be a very important investment if you buy the right one and they can last a very long time.
If some one is more knowledgeable about you model of power supply I will let them vouch for if it’s up to the task. I just don't have any knowledge about that brand to make a strong enough recommendation. But I know a HD6950 and HD7950 only requires a 500w supply so you would be right up on the edge but if it’s not a cheep power supply it should be able to handle it.
Also different brands have different power supply connecter configuration on occasions so it possible there may be a manufacture that still only requires two 6pin connecters it kind of left up the manufacture discretion if they want to adjust the connecter types up and down.
