the most important thing you can do is make it easy to down load the game and this step is is overlooked.

Well... read up on it... it's in Closed Beta... so, unless you've recieved an invite, there's no way to Download the game yet...

Unless of course you buy a Founders Pack... all Founders Pack purchasers get an automatic In to the Beta... then again, I don't see a Founders Tag under your name... soooooo...

You do not download the game. The game downloads you.

Wait till some point after august 7th to get a beta key. Kids to today automatically think they are "entitiled" to beta access.

Shouldn't there be an open beta on August 8th?

I will answer these questions with a simple quote.

For one, standard retail ALPHA/BETA definitions do not apply to online F2P games. The game will always be in development, which means, new features and content will roll out frequently. We have not announced hard dates for Open Beta or Release. Our goal has always been to hit Open Beta before the end of summer.

Founder's:
  • On August 7th, Founder's early access will begin and still considered part of the Closed Beta period.
  • Player's will have access to all of their Founder's perks and rewards.
  • These rewards will be reset from time-to-time during until Open Beta. (new)
  • When MWO goes Open Beta, all Founder's perks and rewards will be reset to 100% for the final time.
  • Once in Open Beta, your premium account bonuses will begin, and any MC used will be permanently spent.
Release (TBD):
  • Game is stable.
  • New features are grouped into more formal releases.
  • New content is added on a regular basis.
  • Unrestricted public access.
  • Ongoing tuning and minor bug fixing.
Open Beta (TBD):
  • Game is 95% stable.
  • The core game is done.
  • Ancillary features are done.
  • New features are still being added.
  • New content is added on a regular basis.
  • Throttled public access.
  • Data is no longer reset.
  • Balance and tuning are still happening regularly in response to scaling up the user base.
  • Some bugs.
Closed Beta (March-TBD):
  • Game is 80% stable.
  • The core game is done.
  • Ancillary features are done.
  • New features still being added.
  • New content is added on a regular basis.
  • Access by invitation only.
  • Player's will be able to purchase MC with real currency. All purchases are tracked and will be credited to a player's account when Open Beta starts. Example: If you purchase 5,000 MC during Closed Beta, your account will be credited with 5,000 MC once Open Beta begins.
  • Data is reset regularly.
  • Balance and tuning are extensive and regular.
  • Lots of bugs.

Ah, I see...Still, that's quite a funny take on game development, beta phases are entirely different just because of a payment model?! That is new to me.

Different to what?
The last time I checked all games had both a closed and open beta stage.
And how the different stages of the game are handled are entirely up to the developers, not in regards to its payment model

That's what the gamedev said. And yeah, my point is exactly as yours, which is,"HUH?! o_0"

The Alpha/Beta part I dont understand, as for the game always being in development, that is common to all MMOs, or online games
I think they may have had their wires crossed there for a few moments, at least in regards to the last part.
